I have been receiving calls from this number since last week. Some days it rings 2-3 times. I have tried ringing the number from a landline and it is just constantly engaged.
Reported this to OPTUS three times - they can do nothing. Just hoping that it is not enabling someone to access my account/details!

I have been receiving calls from this number since last week too. Always call twice daily during afternoon. When I picked up the call, it seemed like diverted to answering machine then it hang up on me. I have tried to report to OPTUS with no result. Has anyone tried to file a complaint to police ?

i have been receiving calls from this number for over a week now - same thing - have reported to optus and they can do nothing - they are going to report it to their investigations dept but cannot get back to me with the results of investigation and cannot help me except to change my mobile number - i'm not interested in this option!

I too have been receiving these freaky calls! Whilst i'm not happy that others get them i'm glad i'm not alone. Has anyone figured out what's going on? I've had 3 calls from the number so far today. Never leave voicemail and i can never call them back.

I have been recieving these calls too!!! I am glad its not just me but its driving me crazy. I dont know what to do about it!

Same again, I have been receiving calls from this number for over a week, when i try and return the call i get hung up on, same when i try from a landline. When i send a sms it can't get through.

I have been receiving calls from this no for the last two weeks as well. I finally reported it to Optus, today. "Foreign" speaking operator told me to call the no myself, and tell them to cease, haha. call does not connect.Optus was totally useless. Its very annoying from twice a day, to 3 times, to-day. Maybe with enough pressure, Optus will do something to stop these calls!!!!.

I have been receiving this call for about 4 days, two times per day. Try to return call but get blocked, still get charged for call connection fee with Telstra.
Rang Telstra to complain, they say there is nothing they can do.

Is this happening mainly to Optus customers? This number has been trying to call me at least three times a day for the past week. I have not answered it once. At the first call, I didn't recognise the number. Googled it. Was suspicious. Been hit before by scamsters calling my mobile. If anyone is in the Sydney area, why don't you go to a public phone booth, call 89863000, leave the phone off the hook and walk away? Maybe not worth the 50 cents, but might feel better. Does the do not call register cover this situation?

Me too. Started off with 1 call and now it's 3 calls a day. [***] annoying. I'm going to report these [***] to the police, as it's harassment.

Calling the number back makes it ring once and then it stops.

I've gotten calls from this number multiple times in the last couple of days.  I finally get sick and tired of it and call Optus.  Seems there isn't anything they can do.  The number apparently is coming from NSW by the way.

No less than 30 mins later I get a call again, same number.  Pick it up, there is someone on the other end this time.

Turns out its AllPhones.  Apparently they have been setting up a callcenter or something and the system has been dialing all the numbers of people who bought phones from them before the center was ready.

Now that someone is there to actually take the calls people should start getting crossed off the list.

I have been getting calls from this number too. Sometimes 2-3 times a day, when i answer it sounds like a computer answering it. I've tried calling back like most and it either doesnt connect or its engaged.

Did someone hack Optus phone system or something. Hope these calls aint charging me anything.

I also have been getting multiple calls from this number! I never pick it up though, but has been calling for 1-2 weeks now, and a few times a day! Rather annoying really!

Would love to find out whats going on! I noticed someone saying its AllPhones, I actually bought my phone from there so it could be them!

I have been having the same problem from this number.  I too have called Optus and reporting it and they said they have traced the number but will not tell me who it is registered too other than saying it is a "marketing company".  All optus has said is that they will send them a letter and tell them to stop calling.
A friend has just told me that she read a post about this saying that the calls are coming from All Phones.  Apparently they are trying to set up a call centre and their "system" is auto dialling numbers of phones bought from them.

I too received a call from this number (0289863000)and have discovered they are coming from '3' Mobile as I received a call from this number at 10.10pm last week and after I answered the call I heard a computer generated female voice saying that"no agents are available to take your call right now" and then the call disconnected. I tried calling the number back several times only to have it disconnect each time the call was answered. Yesterday I received a call from '3' Mobile (as I lifted the phone to answer I saw the number displayed with the last four digits as 3000) asking whether I wanted to continue my contract with them that was due to expire in 4 weeks time and they were offering a number of free-bee's to induce me to stay. After the call was finished I checked my call regeitry and low and behold the number '3' mobile had called from was (02) 89863000 so it is '3' Mobile who is doing these nuisence calls.

Ok I am getting the same calls as everyone else. Usually only 1x day but every day! I have only answered once and it was the female voice answering machine which I only listened to for about 2 seconds then hung up. I have not answered since & I have not tried to call the number coz I don't want to be charged for telling them to leave me the F*** alone!

I bought my phone from All Phones too & I am with Virgin mobile. As there does not seem to be an option to block this number from dialing my phone, I may just go back to All Phones and blast them for abusing my number after I call Virgin and see if they can do anything about it

Yep, just got another one. Must be Allphones - I bought my 3 phone from them.

I bought my phone from Allphone at Loganholme Qld and have been getting these calls for the past few days about 3 times per day.  I have stopped answering them now.  Theres no-one on the line when I answer.  I am guessing it must be Allphones.

I have been receiving these calls for about 3 days now.
It was the same as everyone's... a mechanical voice that lasted about 3secs.
If I try and call from a landline no one picks up.
I bought my phone from Allphones as well.
I am going to call them now to find out if they can do anything!!
Because it is getting bloody annoying!
