I've been selected for a free trial of some scam..

Hey i just got a call from that number, they wanted me to answer a trivia question, being 'who is the prime minister?'  ... sounds dodgey as!!

i just got a call from that number...i missed it and tried to ring back to find out who it was but it was engaged....i think im glad i missed it!

A couple of our staff have been receiving calls from 0290165617, driving them nit, but our carrier (allegedly) isn't able to block incoming calls from specific numbers.

Anyone have any clue as to which company is using this number?

Hi My Nme Is Casey I am ony 16 I got a call from 0290165617 at 7:24pm on Wednesday March 19th and as some other people I tried recalling and it was engaged.

I missed a call from that same number, Same thing happened to me, I rang back a few times, but it was engaged.
I can't believe I wasted my time trying to get back to them!

Hey this number rang my mother in law three times out of curiosity i rang back and i got silence for about 5 or 6 seconds then a pre recorded message said 'goodbye'... and that was that. if anyone has been scammed or something by these people let us know cause clearly there are a lot of confused people!

Yeah, I got a missed call from this stupid number yesterday, and I was silly to call it back... and I got a pre-recorded message going "Congratulations, your number has been selected to be credited with....", I immediately thought it was one of those phone-number-stealing hoaxes, so I hung up. I thought I should check my account to see what my bill was, so that I could then monitor it over the next few days to see if they're charging things to my phone. I was only up to 0.96c yesterday. I made no other calls.
Today, my bill has jumped to $5.96... so, some [***] has charged $5 to my phone in one day! So I called 3-customer-service, and they couldn't check where the charge came from until tomorrow, but say that there is nothing on there that says I spent $5 yesterday.
So now I'm absolutely fuming and am gonna have to keep checking my account for increases in my bill, until I can somehow get the scam turned off my phone.
Anyone had a similar outcome? And does anyone have an immediate solution? I would be forever indebted if you did!

I just got a missed call from this ass monkey. Tried calling back but got the goodbye message so googled it and voila. I knew it would be some junk like this. Mmm called a mate at Telstra to sort the [***] out - but the number isn't with them.. must be with another provider.

Got a call from this number sometime this morning i called back and it was arecording saying "GOODBYE".

Yes I got that call on Saturday afternoon, stupid me called back twice cos I couldn't hear the answer machine properly. It's like a 2 sec reply "goodbye" what a sad case. But how stupid of me to care enough to call back twice!

I got this marketing call in Australia at 3:38 on 1st April 2008.

I just got this call when I heard it is a  marketing call and it seemed the voice is played by machine.

i just got a call from that number and answered it, and it was the pre recorded msg asking the trivia question about john howard and kevin rudd. its the exact same competition that i have seen on television adds where they ask a really really stupid easy question like that and get u to sms the answer to win money, even the add looks really lame. my mobile is credit and not a plan so im hoping i dont get any charges to my account.

i wish phone companies would be aware of this spam and block the number from their networks.
