- BenHad a missed call from this number. Called back, it said it was Optus. No direct line, so I gave up.
- Caller: Optus
- ShaneOptus as above stated
- Caller: Optus
- JohnGot a miss call from this number
When I called back, I reached a recorded voice message"Welcome to Optus ,bla bla bla"
Got no idea where they've got my number since I got nothing to do with Optus - DI heard my mobile ring for a very short time, as if someone had just rang to prank my phone to get me to call back rather than actually ringing and waiting for me to pick up the phone.
I didn't bother calling back the 0290278000 number because I don't waste money returning calls made from unknown landlines. I think if a person really wants to reach you, they will call back later. - janeOptus! The technical support called me from this number.
- JHappened to me twice in the last 20 minutes.
- TroyIs it really OPTUS? I just got 2 calls from this number withing 20 minutes, missed them both. Reminds me of the phone scam a couple of years back... http://www.tio.com.au/Scamwatch/phone_protection.html
- louisaim getting calls form this number weekly.. when you pick up, it sounds like a fax and you cant call them back. Really optus?
- CatherineReceived three missed calls over the past two days from this number.
- danielyeah i didnt answer my phone either, but called back later and it was optus trying to sell me sumthing i think
- mollyi've missed 2 calls from this number and i don't know who it is but i don't want to call back
- kayI got a call from this number, a foreign voice on a bad connection asking if it were me (which I'd already answered with my name), who then said something about Optus and then the line disconnected. Curious, huh? Is it really Optus?
- Caller: Optus?
- $This number rang me today...Phone only rang once then they hung up..Didnt bother ringing back just googled it....Have been receiving numerous phone calls from 0281143800 over the last few wks.....Knew it was Optus as I had googled the number cus they kept ringing and I dont answer numbers I dont know!....But I finally answered last week, they asked for me, but I told them they had the wrong number, and now strangely enough they are calling from another number!...?????....Whats the go?
- Caller: Optus???
- hmmmi've missed 2 calls earlier today... i figured it was optus... didn't call back.
- Caller: optus or not?
- darrylI received a call from this number claiming to be from optus and asking if the phone number was related to "The Australian Small Scale Offerings Board" business - which it isn't (weird thing is- I worked for this company approximately 6 months ago)they then promptly hung up.
A few minutes later i had my mobile phone ring from a malaysian investment company - with the number 0282094700 - after "baiting" the caller by sounding excited in their product I asked if they had just called my landline number - to which they replied Yes ! - I also asked where they obtained my details from and the caller said that they buy customer details from Optus and Dunn & Bradstreet !
I called optus (my home phone carrier) with this info as the the malaysian caller had initially identified themselves as being from optus. after some discussion and what seemed like a "do not care" attitude from optus - I was informed that Optus definately sell off customer details and also banks are starting to as well. Optus could not stop my details from being sold and could only offer to register on the Do Not Call website but there was no way that my email or street address details could not be stopped from being sold - the only option I was told was to make our home phone number silent. - LeaI think this is definitely related in some way to Optus selling off customer details. I got two calls yesterday, neither of which I could answer because they rang for such a short time, from 02 9207 8000 and 02 9207 8500. It seems a bit coincidental that the day before I'd gone into an Optus Store and changed over my plan to a new Optus plan. And now all of a sudden I'm getting these mysterious calls, which I'd never received before. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a regular thing. Has anyone noticed whether they continue to received these calls repeatedly?
The only suggestion I can make for anyone who's getting annoyed with it is to add your phone no. to the "Do Not Call Register" at https://www.donotcall.gov.au/ At least this way, the caller can be held accountable if they call you and your no. is on the list. Although it seems to be a bit of a grey area if your service provider is Optus and the call actually comes from Optus. - gary| 1 replyAnswered this no after missing it the first time. Somebody from Optus doing a survey of their call centre staff as I had called the help line the day before.
- Caller: Optus
- I'm not hereI called this number back from a land line at work, and got a voice mail telling me it was Optus and if I want to talk to support call xxx, if I want to talk to [Blah] call xxxx and if I want to talk to someone at Optus.... The call then terminated.
As Troy said, it sounds like that scam a few years back.
I wonder what is going on at the bill side of things- Caller: Optus
- I'm not hereI just got a call back from an Optus rep asking a few 0-10 answerable questions about an email I received from Optus support, regarding a complaint I had about the software update being held up by Optus for my HTC Dream phone. She was hard to hear (bad accent).
I think this might just be an out sourced marketing mob- Caller: Optus
- Annoyed| 1 replyJust received 3 missed calls from this number in the last 15minutes.. If it is Optus, I don't want to know about it. Contacted them yesterday to disconnect my mobile phone, if it's urgent, they have my postal address and can send me a letter.. I don't respond to unknown mobile numbers, and am sick of getting calls like this! Hence why I am disconnecting my phone.
