This Sydney based number keeps ringing me and hanging up when I answer.

Its one of many very sus phone calls I have been getting lately, most are saying they are with citi bank but then ask for your credit card details, but they actually have nothing to do citi bank.
Very scam like!

I got a call from 02-9191-1653 but the person hanged up when I answer. I didn't bothered to call back. Seems to be some sort of scam going on.

I am getting calls from 02 9191 1653, and never leaves message to me even if I got voicemail. I called back the number but never answered it.

yess it seems one company has many phone numbers, quite sure its a auto dialer.

0291911653 called many times since this monday. missed all the phone calls from that number. called back and the mailbox said it was some insurance department of a bank. pretty sure it's a scam

I made a change to details on my Citibank account and was notified by the call centre that I would be called re an Insurance Package offer by the bank.  I am sure this is who this is  - I missed my call and they have not called back again

same here, just got a call from 02 9191 1653. but hung up as soon as i lifted the call.

Got a call from this same number. It was a sales person on behalf of Citibank regarding a life insurance policy.

I have been having the same problem with that number ringing me and hanging up when I answer and I am in Perth.

same, received call from 91911653. Miss it though. Then had someone ring home number and hang up. Wont answer any more.

same here. got a call from this number last Saturday and this monday. they said they are calling on behalf of Citibank and selling me their health insurance.
I wont deal with them any more.

I think it could be when you sign up for a Google account they ask for your mobile number to confirm or have an activation code smsd to your phone. So within that process someone has been able to hack into that submission page, or whatever, and have obtained the mobile numbers. That is the only place I had submitted my mobile number online.

I got the same call, alleged to be from Citibank selling me life and accidental insurance.  

Re Brian: I'm not sure if it's just a Google account 'leak'.  The person who I spoke to seemed to have a lot more of my personal information than I would have imagined, and more than what Google knows.

I'm guessing Citibank sold customer information, or that information was stolen?

Yep same here. I got a call from 02 9191 1653 stating that they are calling on behalf of Citibank and that they are offering a Perconal Protection Insurrance plan for $27.90 a month. They had my date of birth and residence address already and after confirming that with me they asked me for my credit card details or direct debit details for getting the plan for which I declined. The guy had also said that he would send out the PDS for the insurrance policy to my email id which never did arrive as well. All in all it's a big hoax. Beware.

Just got a call from this number as well - personal details were revealed "on behalf of Citibank" for a life and living survey. The operator answered in the negative when asked if they were selling me insurance - unbelievable! I asked if they had a Do Not Call register, which was confirmed and requested I be put on this and terminated the call.

Im not with Citybank at all, but this number keeps calling me every 2nd day!! very annoying!!

Yes, I have been getting calls from 02 9191 1653 for a couple of weeks now.  Always hangs up as soon as I answer and doesn't leave voicemail message when I don't.  Very annoying.

The fact that this number and the other number they call u on (0291911620) say they are selling you something different every time shows its not legit, probs some guys who have stolen a list of numbers from citi bank and other sources got them selves a garage and make 1000 calls a day and get credit card details out of unsuspecting people. Be very careful my friends!

I had the exact same experience - I change a few things and they were ofering to call back within a week about an insurance policy - by why do they hang up?? I'm checking future statements more closely!
