Does indeed look like phone companies are selling off our numbers. If we all wrote to watchdog instead of here, we might get something changed....

Got a call today and the line went dead as I answered it.

I am on Orange, but I still have the same phone number as I used to have on T-Mobile about 10 years ago. I have had 2 missed calls from this number today. Now I know not to pick up!

I have recieved a number of calls from these welsh yokels, claiming all sorts of BS.  From "we ar the biggest mobile company in the UK" > strange i have never heard of them!!!  To, "we can get you any deal you want".  So when i asked for a couple of grams of the white marching powered and a nine bar, i was mightly peed off when they could not deliver on their promises.  When they explained just who they were, i said i was using a nicked mobile and could they upgrade this.  Again no.  By this time i was bored with playing with them and said if they called again i would invoice the company for my time and materials used on the call.

A**...holes. the lot of them.

I have googled the number which brought up several pages about the cold calling of the call centres in and around Cardiff. As yet, I have been at work when the calls have come through and not been able to answer them. Having read the information on the internet tonight, I will not be answering the calls either!
How annoying and WHERE are they getting our numbers from?

I have just started receiving these calls this week.  Strange, since I was in Wales a few weeks ago.  I'm PAYG so they are wasting their time.  I have a different ring tone for all my friends and family and I am aware straight away that the caller is unknown to me so I dont bother answering the idiots...

Been recieving calls from 02920368797 for the past three days, im with t-mobile but not contract, just pay as you go, really annoying, isnt there any way we can block this.

I'm pleased I googled this number I missed.. Perhaps I'm in a slightly different category with a Vodafone pay as you go and an O2 contract with over a year to go.

said they were from Comms Direct,then i hung up on him.

i did answer and nothing happened
3 seconds of nothing then it hung up. so still no idea despite answering

I answered the number- 02920368797. A chap called Neil from Communications Direct Ltd (Cardiff)(is the company in question)called and says my T- mobile contract is about to expire. I am not even on T-mobile ! A guess they dial T-mobile type numbers and see if they hit pot luck. Be wary !

I was told they were called Comms Direct which falls in with the comments from above. They asked if I'd upgraded my phone in the last 10 months which I replied 'yes' too. They then asked what provider I was with, to which I replied...'Mind your own F'in business!!'

I googled them and found am quoting what I found summarised below:-

They try and guess your mobile provider as most providers use the same prefix on the phone numbers but they fall foul of this if you have ported your number from another provider. This is done to con you into thinking they are from your provider and therefore more likely to give over personal information more readily, they then try and give - con actually - you an upgraded phone and ask for your bank details to check/set up a direct debit. They are actually selling you a new contract....

So for god's sake don't ever give your bank details to anybody over the phone unless you rang them and are 100% sure you know who is on the other end.

If you have done this then your a complete idiot and as such won't be reading this anyway as your head is clearly in the sand...lol

Spot on Yip [above comment] ! That's what I thought after their call. T-mobile has a certain prefix, Orange does, O2 does and so does Vodafone. That's how they guess which network you are likely to be on. So always establish who is calling. Never give bank details to speculative callers and if you want to sign up then call them back making sure you check them out before giving any information. Just sage advice !

Got a call from this number - no message left.

Called it back - a noisy call centre where they couldn't even hear what I was saying - how irritating.

Said they were some mobile phone company or other.

Thing is, I'm on the Do Not Call/Do Not Solicit lists for all the Mobile Phone companies - A call to Trading Standards methinks

I've been called three times by this number, I'm also T mobile but on pay as you go.

I've had a missed call from this number today.  Was so baffled with the number I managed to trace it like others to Cardiff. I'm a T-mobile contract and am no way near to the end of it.  Thought of ringing it, but after reading these posts, i'll think again.
