Hello yes everyone is right it is credit corp calling you, we will call or text at any time, we will use our own personal mobiles to call you at 9pm at night,& block the number we do this because we know if you complain about us ringing you cant prove it, we will ring your boss at work & discuss your account with them even though we know its against the law, we will google your name & get phone  number of your family and friends,& harass them  we do this because we bought a debt in your name we only paid 25c in the dollar for the debt in the 1st place, then we line our pockets when we make unrealistic payment plans that suit us. we never listen to what you say & will talk over the top of you so we cant hear what you are saying, we do this because we dont care about your situation. We will try & collect debts that are over the stature of limitations, & we will try everything to collect it, we will threaten you with legal action even though we know theres nothing we can do about it. we will send the sheffif around to see you & we only do this so we can addd more costs onto the account, we will write good reviews about ourselves, because we know our client wont. other than that we are really nice people so next we ring and you hear our voices or we say its credit corp calling hang up on us or answer your phone put it down & walk away have it on speaker phone so you can hear us rambling on & after 5 mins we will hang when the penny finally drops that you are not listening

Absolute scum of the earth. I wonder what kind of pathetic individual you'd have to be to actually work for a company like them.

I am being plagued by Credit Corp too. According to them they have been authorised to call me to recover a debt that is not in my name. I guess they googled me and got my mobile number from somewhere on the internet. I have never dealt with a credit company and never will. The next step is to take out an intervention order on them and I'm deadly serious. Bring on the sheriff!

Received a call from them today.  They were pleasant enough - someone has called my home phone number, and my dad (who doesn't speak English very well) gave them my number.  Someone had used my surname, the year of birth, and clearly my home phone number and had some debts somewhere.

I've also had similar experiences with Credit Corp. They called my ex boyfriend who I was on a lease with a while ago and then he contacted me to let me know that someone was looking for me and that they mentioned names of people I used to work with as well as my previous addresses- I thought divulging information like that was illegal? They then sent their number to my ex boyfriend, asking him to pass it on to me.
I called them and could have just put the phone down for 40 minutes because all I heard was 'BLA BLA BLA you don't want your account to reach a critical level do you? We need payment in full today. I can give you $200 off the full amount if you pay in full right now or I can freeze the interest for you".
After paying a lump sum amount AND agreeing to a direct debit payment plan, I was then passed on to a manager who once again ran through the whole "If you pay in full now BLA BLA BLA"....I was like "DUDE I've just paid a lump sum and have agreed to pay off a weekly amount, seriously, if I could pay the full amount, I would but clearly I cant. I've already agreed to pay this off- there is no point you even talking to me". He then asked me if I could use another credit card to pay off the debt or if I could hassle my friends and family for the money.
They don't listen, they use pushy tactics and their reps are simply trying to reach their over the top commission to get their pathetic monthly bonus so they can then all sit around and pat each other on the back at their end of month awards where they name which team collected the most and how many people reached over 100% of their target, all the while sipping on the free booze and eating the free food they're provided with.
So now, after paying a lump sum amount AND sticking to my weekly payment arrangement- they are STILL trying to call me.
This company is an absolute DISGRACE.

A wonderful rant about an insidious profession as old as the bible.
Most of these companies hire backpackers or people who are unfortunate in employment situations long term.

The "debt" as Mathew stated is written off by the original agency or supplier of the contract and the "agreement" on sold at minimal with the hope of retrieval in some way by the new owner. Typically Lion or Credit Corp these two may even control this "reverse search" site as a way of "finding " their intended party.

The debt collector usually writes a script and pays commission only to transient workers who don't give a toss about who they catch up in this net.

We all have sewers and they attract a lot of rats, the only issue I have is they are very thinly legislated against when in the wrong.

The non transparency of communications these days mean they can be phoning from  Brazil, Botswana or Australia There is simply no way to tell. Likewise the methods of data storage are not regulated and as they tell you "once we have your information right or wrong everyone has access to the file but you."

The best form of action is to take as many notes as possible so you can be clear with the reason they have got your number in the first place. Give them nothing but extract all relevant details so you can "pay " the debt. When and "if" you can get contact details and source of debt ring the original supplier of the contract , get the legal status of that debt. If it is finalised take the documentation to the court and sue the A--- off them for harassment. But be sure of your facts.

The second and most likely route is simply don't answer any blocked numbers.
    Good luck
    Henry

Credit Corp. These guys harass me day and night for money I don't owe on many different numbers. They call my mobile, work, home and my wife. My boss is pissed off about these calls, and they've even divulged information to some of my work colleagues about me and my supposed debt. They're ruining my life!

    It is Credit Corp.
But unlike all the complaints i have never dealt with a rude person or any of the tatics like calling bosses. Its always a pleasure dealing with them.
They offer me discounts alk the time and advice to help me limit the time it will take to repay a debt.

Yes definitely one of the many faces of Credit Corp. Agreeing with other posters here that they will try all types of low life tactics to get you take their call. For example: I have had the business type caller that almost sounds like a legitimate business inquiry. I have had the I am xxx xx just getting back to you regarding that problem with your pay call. They have emailed me and they phone regularly. Secretly I hope they turn up to my door step like others have described - they won't be coming back!
