yes it is bay cop..debt collector..commonwealth bank's collecting agent.

Its Baycorp, a debt collection agency,
If they get on to you, they ask personal details of you, to confirm who you are.
You do not have to answer these questions, as you most likely have had no dealings with this company.
They have no physical address that you can call into
They often call from NZ
They will ring incessantly often with a blocked number
They ask if you mind the call being recorded, you can say no and the call should be terminated.
For all one knows they maybe a scam agency.
You can inform them that you are recording this call, and the call should be terminated.
After 100’s of calls I now treat it as a sport but am tempted to form an internet group to sue the pants off these guys for harassment, they are claiming to be protecting our privacy, but are only harassing.
Ps, I have all the receipts from all my bills and they are up to date.
Pps I have emailed them and they still persist in calling (from a blocked number mostly) and asking for personal details. Yet they won’t even acknowledge my email

They are one of the 2 big debt collection agencies in Australia. Westpac uses them, as do other banks. I think some state governments also use them for unpaid fines.
I think those 2 big companies are also the credit reporting agencies in Australia.
So they'll give you bad credit for 5 years, or 7 years if they think you've moved.
Perhaps the debt is from something innocuous like a parking fine or video library overdue fee.
I do have a debt, and they do call INCESSANTLY. Its not legal for them to call so often, and its also not legal for them to refuse to provide a list of what the money is owed for.
They mostly hide their number when they call.
For those reasons I don't answer their calls.
We'll see how it plays out...

Baycorp Debt Collectors.  

I do have a debt and I'm on an arrangement because I lost my job.  I arranged to pay the original debtor an amount every fortnight which they agreed to but they "sold" my debt to Baycorp anyway.  

Now I have to pay Baycorp.  And I do pay - never missed a beat, not once.

But they call constantly (at least twice a week) to ask when I can clear the rest of the debt. They tell me to ask friends and relatives for a loan, or try and get a loan from the bank (BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE THEY REGISTERED A DEFAULT!  DERRRR.....)

I have told them over and over I'll pay them when I can but I just wish they'd stop calling me.  It's stressful.

Surely they are breaching some sort of law.

If I'd broken my arrangement I could see their point but it's ridiculous.

My knowledge is that they are not allowed to harass you like that, the best thing to do is ask them for a copy of the original documents so you can see if they have the right to collect off you as a 3rd party, your agreement was with the other creditor not with Baycorp.

I had a problem with Farmers sending my bill to baycorp, i asked baycorp for a copy of my original agreement that i had signed and they couldn't produce it so i do not know if farmers was allow to send my debt to a collection agency or not as they did not have my documents either.

I took them to the Tribunal and Baycorp harassed me right until one day before our court day, i then got a phone call from farmers saying my debt has been wiped and there is no need to go to the Tribunal.

I still went and i got confirmation in writing that the debt was wiped and my credit rating was good.  

No Original Documents is what to ask for and after that say to the collection agency that you want to be contacted by letter only, keep all of them, they may not even have your documents so why do they think they can collect.

Over 60 calls mostly from private number a few from this one and a 13hundred number, failrly sure this was from a debt incurred over 13 years ago and in any case the  goods were surrendered to the original  company, so they can go to -------.

These people keep calling non-stop, usually at 7:30am so that's why I've always thought they were bogus. Many many times I've answered and ono-one is on the other line. After the phone has woken me up early. Even on Saturday mornings. I just had another 'discussion' this morning as this time an actual No came up on my screen, whereas it always says UNKNOWN. The woman, Elaine (with what sounds like a Filipino accent) kept asking me for confirmation of my identity. I kept asking why are you ring me'. She kept on saying 'I need to confirm your identity'. It was the same voice I've previously answered to but have hung up on as I wanted to check the business name when I asked her. BAYCORP. I googled & saw it was a Debt Collection agency. But I have no debts, have never had any debts. At least none that have ever previously come to my attention. All my bills are paid on time.

Anyway, I kept asking her to send me a letter. She then sounded flustered and said I can ring a 1300 No with a Reference No. She spluttered it but I have the flu and was sick in bed when she rang around 9am this morning. So I didn't write it down. But give me a legitimate Business Ph No, not a 1300. I kept saying 'send me a letter if you know who I am and need confirmation'. This was the first time I saw an actual Ph No on my screen for these people. But if they are legit, why do they ring so early and why does their Ph No usually say UNKNOWN. Why would I give them my information when they rang me obviously already having it? And confirmation for what? If I did owe money wouldn't they just say so…

Baycorp. They ring 1,2,3,4,5 times a day from a blocked number, this number and send text messages, this has been happening to me for 3 years now and I quite enjoy ignoring and rejecting their calls.

These people have been calling frequently now for the past 3 years or so using this number as well as unidentified numbers.  Often from New Zealand.  They cannot say what the matter is about, nor can they furnish any paperwork as to what it is for.  We do not have any debts or arrangements with these people and had never heard of them previously.  They are very annoying to say the least.  Often the phone will ring and there is no answer on the other end.  This is a computer generated phone call.  If you answer, an actual person will follow up shortly after that.  The reason for the computer generated call is just to identify if someone is there or not.  
So much for people's privacy, security, and peace of mind.

Which tribunal?  Very interested to deal with this same problem myself.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
