As activists in Pro Peace (Anti War) and Pro Environment (Anti Nuclear) movements, we are monitored via pseudo telemarketing firms.

Government and possibly religious agencies (criminal and devil agencies) try to monitor our location or ascertain our level of involvement or intimidate us through mystery silent phone calls.

Our advice :

Get an answering machine SEPARATE FROM THE TELEPHONE COMPANY NETWORK, preferably WITH someone else's voice as message taker, and let the machine take the message.  If it's a silent message, it will often not be registered or recorded in the machine and you won't have to bother with it.  Only call back to friendly sane non criminal non devil contacts (non governement non religious contacts).

Be assured : You are living in a near-Soviet surveillance society with extremely ultra wealthy News running the military terrorist and nuclear poison show.

I just got a call from "urban promotions" too.  I had to ask for the company name though.  Yep, offering "free goods" in my area.  Didn't get to the bit where we talk about how much it costs me.

I got a call on my mobile from this number, I answered and they hung up

i have been called on this number. atleast twenty times in the last week.
i was out and i answwered my phone, and answered and it was blank. i just hung up. now they won't stop calling. grrh.

This is a place called urban promotions (www.urban.com.au). If you get a call you are a 'lucky' chosen one to take advantage of some free goods. They are selling a coupon book for different businesses in your local area. $99 although when I resisted because I told them we had just had a baby they offered it for $89. They have things like 'free' meals and haircuts and emphasise it isn't buy one get one free. But of course not many people go out for dinner by themselves. Plus there are restrictions on the days you can use some coupons. If you ask they will give you a password to log onto their website so you can check out what they are offering and the conditions.

I dont answer when i see the number and they just leave a message telling me to call them. Don't say who they are or what they are calling for.

Thats exactly what keeps happening to me ( 5 times or so..)

got 4 calls in the space of 2 days from this number all hang ups NOT F'N HAPPY

Ive had calls from this number and i spoke to a lady called Lisa who couldnt even say who the company and When I asked her the point of the call she spoke about it in a "round about way"!
so unproffessional and such a scam, she said she was talking about some tickets that my husband was looking at purchasing and that he was going to pay by visa. WOAH what a crock!!! I asked her for her number and she gave me the number but then she said can i call your husband, so i gave her the work number so that my hubby could drill this lady, and basiaclly she told my husband that I said that he shops in our local area, such a lie. she basically wanted my husbands credit card details for some tickets that he did not have a clue about. she said to me "we have some tickets that the local community would like to offer you".

My husband would not budge when she was questioning him and my husband was getting pretty frustrated with this lady and her scam and not to mention her attitude. And then ...She just hung up!!!!

This number called me this morning. I didn't answer because I was busy, just got the number later, then checked here before deciding whether to call back. The thing is, I'm on the 'Do Not Call' register.

I have previously been contacted by that company that tries to sell the coupons, in spite of being on the DNC register. They ask you to pay somewhere in the vicinity of a hundred dollars for the coupons, emphasising that the coupons are worth much more, but you can only use them at certain shops, so half of them are pointless because they're for things you don't buy. When I said I couldn't afford it they offered me a discount, like they did with LanceF3H8.

They try to recruit you to sell coupons to others in your area, promising a financial return from home. They're really pushy, there's no way to get out of the call except to simply hang up. Glad I didn't answer, but maybe I should answer if they call again, so I can report them for calling numbers on the register.

person with aussie accent from urban promotions, offering coupons worth $2000 for only $99, she knew the names of local busnisses and she sounded old.  they took $200 from us, and it feels impossible to get hold of them. been ringing them but just keep getting answering machine.

I have had the same issue in the last week. They quoted me $80 but took $100 from my account. Now I can't even get ahold of the company. I have tried phoning and emailing.
If anyone has been successful in calling them back could you please let me know what number you used.

If indeed the number is Urban Promotions (Bell Street, Melbourne), their website gives a toll-free number of 1300737777. It also gives an address and a mobile for the "director" Martin Farrugia. I've had calls from these pests (so far they have hung up when I've answered) and am about to contact Urban Promotions for some explanation of WTF they think they are doing.

Same thing here! Calls however have become more frequent since requesting that they remove us from their contact listing, even though we have a silent line and calls are considered unlawful. Our telco has now put a 'trace' on the line so that they can record the harrassment and deal with things from their end. Needless to say, we will ensure that we do NOT conduct business with this mob, Urban Promotions. BTW, for those considering adding their number to the 'Do Not Call' register, please know that while you might be protected from businesses harrassing you, those who have obtained charitable status (and politicians) are exempt and may continue to (legally) harrass you via this 'service'. GRrrrrrrrrrr!

Linda u need to get a life... This is a legite stimulus package , and no way that they talk like that to ur customers... ... U are just solking coz u weren't nominated to receive the stimulus package ... They are legite, and I'm very happy with my stimulus package. And good on them for supporting all the local shops and business , that are doing a fantastic job... I purchased my vouchers with Urban Promotions a week ago and recieved them yesterday..My agent was very professional and answered every question i had..i myself thought it was a scam but i called the retailers incorporated in the promotion and they verfied that they were in the promotion with this company..for those of you who are complaining,well i guess your just an idiot for missing out on saving money in YOUR OWN TOWN!have recommended this to all my family and friends!
