Anyone been getting calls from this number?

Let the know I am a business listed on the Do Not Call Register and they freaked out and would not identify themselves.

"Sarah" was her name... dodgy telemarketers I would say spruiking for Telstra/Optus s an outsourced leads centre.

Very poor behaviour.

If anyone has more detail please let us know.

Received call from 03 90015836 at work. Female identified herself as Sarah and asked me how I was. Told her that would depend on what she was calling me about.
'Sarah' said she was from Telstra and wanted to speak with the person who had authority to make changes to our phone account.
I asked 'Sarah' - Why ?
'Sarah' said they had detected a problem with our phone account.
I asked 'Sarah' to be more specific about the problem.
'Sarah' mentioned something about 'paying interest' and then she hung up.
There was a lot of 'call centre' background noise during the phone call.

I have been getting these calls for months with nobody on the end but after 15 seconds a "plunk" sound is heard and a computer generated voice says "goodbye". Investigations with Telecom got me nowhere so I rang the numbers after it in sequence and finally got an IT company who said there service provider was TELECORP-. Telecorp confirmed that they had the "9001" block numbers but that particular number was not there"s, said it could have been on sold to another provider. I'm going to continue to pursue these people by any means possible and when I find them , I will pass the info on to a friend of mine who is a webmaster with 35 years in the telecommunications industry who will find a way to get even

Someone rang today from 0390015836 as soon as i said hello they hung up! Have rung the number back but no answer.

Yup just had a call from 03 9001 5836 too... some woman saying "hello? hello?" and that was it. She sounded Indian I think.

Had a number of calls from this number.
No one on the line and it goes dead after a short time.

Had multiple calls from this number everday about the same time. Also had a woman "Sarah" said she wanted to talk about my Telstra number. I asked her company name, and where she got my number from and she just kept repeating about my Telstra number. When i told her i had an Optus number she hung up. Rung optus and they said they cant/wont do anything.

I've been getting calls from this number too, and there is no recourse to either stop them calling or annoy them as much as they annoy us.

So this is my method of retaliation:

I would only recommend this if you don't need to use the phone for a while and definitely don't do this if the call has been diverted from your mobile it will cost you a lot of money. I don't do this to any legitimate charities or other organisations.

I answer the phone and straight away I can tell its annoying telemarketer either trying to change my phone plan or fix my computer. I give them enough time to say their opening line, it all goes a little something like this -

Telemarketer : "Hello, I'm from Telecom and there is a problem with your phone plan."
Me : "Oh ok"
Telemarketer : "We would like to change your plan and save you money"
Me : "Can you hold on the line I've just got something boiling on the stove and I have to turn it off"

Now I put the phone down and go back to watching television, bathing the kids or whatever. Usually after 20mins I pick up the phone and have a listen to see if someone is still on the line. And if they are I just hang up the phone without saying anything.

I figure it must at least be costing the Telemarketer for the length of the call and the 20mins they are on the line with me is 20mins away from bothering anyone else.

And I guess one day I'm hoping if more people adopt this retaliation it will be too expensive for telemarketers to cold call people.

Same thing. Got a call from 03-9001-5836. Picked up, said "hello" and they just hung up.

Been getting other scam calls from people pretending to be from Telstra, Microsoft, even travel agencies offering "free" holidays.

Will definitely use above suggestion from Freddy.

As usual, immediately hung up when answered ([***])...

I get called from this number about 8 times a week tried to return call but it just hangs up or says good by.sick to death of it .I think the only way around this and other unwanted calls is to have a mobile only no land line

after saying hello a few times then they'll answer to me from some "telecom service provider" wanting to know if I was happy with my telephone, ???

I have had this person or persons call us 4 times today we are having technical problems and I noticed it because when i shouted at them to talk louder they just hang up do not leave message or nothing and its not a Tasmanian number which makes me think its telemarketer

We have received multiple calls - sometimes 4 per day - for several weeks from this number.  I never answer it, but sometimes they say "Hello?  Hello?" on the machine and then hang up.  As another commenter noticed, there is quite a bit of background noise.  Nuisance!

Received a call from male person.

Advised me that my bill would be reduced to $49 per month because I'm a Telstra customer. I told him I'm not a Telstra customer. He had some lame excuse.

Tried to get cry personal details. I said not until he gives me his personal details. He started getting agitated.

BE WARNED !!! This is a scam and the people behind it are trying to steal your identity. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.

Unlucky for them I work in law enforcement and will be investigating this matter further.

This number has been calling me on and off for months, with daily calls in the past fortnight. Same thing -- pick up and it hangs up. Engaged tone when return their call. Driving me nuts!

this number true to call me twice today. my caller id showed ut coming from overseas although it looks like Melbourne. lucky i Google searched the number and found this i won't be answering

10/5/2012:  Just answered the phone and there was noone on the line, although the line was definitely "open" .  I reckon it was a telemarketer too, and they don't have to sell you anything to be doing their job.....they just have to log that they have called and pretend they tried and you didn't wish to buy anything. They still get paid. Even if your answering machine cuts in, they have still made the call. So, just don't answer the phone if it has what seems to be an Australian area code (this one has 03, which looks like Victoria is calling) or "Private Number" on your screen...assuming you are paying for caller ID. I don't answer private calls, but my machine says this, and says to leave a number for me to call back. Even my friends with P.N's are catching on and turning off their number withheld screen because they know I won't answer.
