Had a missed call and decided to google the number. That got me here and the Vodafone comments make sense, they called last week and said they would call me today so I guess that they were good to their word and called back as promised.

Kirsty from Vodafone - 16 Jul 2008
Hi guys,

If you have received a call from 0414113600 it is because you are a Vodafone customer  and Vodafone is attempting to contact you in regards to a current promotion or campaign.  It is not a scam or competition number. It is an outbound  calls  only number, so if you try to call it  back  you'll get a message saying the number is disconnected.

If you don't answer the call, our team will simply try to call you again later.

If you don't want Vodafone to contact you via 0414113600, simply call our customer service team on 1555, and we will be able to remove you from the outbound call database.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

Kirsty from Vodafone.

So I've just called Vodafone and asked them about this, mentioning the advice given above from "Kirsty", and the gal said that they "can't just block one number", I tried to explain it to her that lots of people seem to be having this problem etcetctec.... She asked me to repeat the number a few times and then a light went on in her head and she said to just text the word "STOP" to that number and it should stop. It sounded sort of wierd and cryptic, but I'm willing to try anything to stop this, so I've sent the text. It could be a money-making scheme on VFone's part getting you to waste text money, but if it works, who cares!? Give it a try?

also have been getting alls from this number starting this week. Problem is i just renewed my contract with Vodafone a couple of days ago and now im signed up for 2 yrs with this crap and they aren't being helpful. YOU WOULD THINK WITH THIS MANY COMPLAINTS they would do something about it instead of telling everyone just to put up with it!

I am still not convinced about this number. I have received about 10 calls a day from this number and when i answer it is just silent. no one says anything and no one ever leaves a message. When i call back it says that this 'optus' service is no longer available.. not sure what that's about although seems alittle strange to me. I keep rejecting the calls although it is very frustrating.
PROBLEM SOLVED - 29 Aug 2008
Hi all.. well finally i managed to answer the call from this number - apparently Vodafone have a Call Centre somewhere in Manila and these people call through to process any feed back you may have about your Vodafone Service. Since they use an auto dialling system it will continue to call you until you answer and it's all automatic. Since they are overseas there is a delay when you answer, this answers the silence. I told Wanita who called that I had received several in fact 10 calls per day from this number for the last week. Of course she was very apologetic although never asked me for personal info.

I would suggest you just play along with it provide some feed back and be done with it. Perhaps call Vodafone directly and let them know you don't want to receive any such marketing / telemarketing calls in future and maybe that will solve the problem. Otherwise you could call the Dept of Fair Trading or the Telecommunication Ombudsman and let them know Vodafone are harrassing you and you have had enough.. a little extreme but an option.!!

Good luck.! hopefully the calls will now stop for me.. fingers crossed.!!

I am travelling in San Francisco and have received 4 phone calls from this number. Wasting my money!! When I called back 'nothing', so I googled it. Vodafone, do SOMETHING. If this is your sales team, then why don't they identify themselves, or leave a message. It is very annoying.

I was getting a heap of calls from this number like everyone one else and when I called it back I couldn't get through to anything, like the number was dead.

Today when it called (and after reading the comments here), I answered and it was Vodafone wanting to make sure that I was happy with the service.

I said:

"If I wasn't happy then I would call you - so don't call me wanting to know if everything is ok".

I then hung up.

Hopefully I don't get the calls anymore!

not convinced - 23 Sep 2008
Hey all - still not so convinced about this. Could be the sceptic in me - but i've been with Vodafone for YEARS - and whenever they need to get hold of me and i  don't answer, they leave a Vodafone standard VM. Sorry for not jumping on the 'free phone for you' bandwagon. I've received several free phones in my time and its never come through a secret mobile line like this one
Don't answer i say :)

I was getting loads of these calls for about a month and a half after my contract expired. At first I just ignored them or rejected the call, but in the end I was sick of that so I answered and let them do their speel about getting a new phone, and a $300 Myer voucher for signing up to a new contract, blah blah blah. I told them I was happy with the handset and that I didn't want to be on a new contract since I liked taking it 'month to month' (bet they hated that!!). After that, the phone calls stopped (at least for now). The best thing you can do is just play along and tell them you're not interested. Then they should leave you alone.
