Getting missed calls from random mobile numbers like this one. Last missed call i got was from this today, 4.28pm.

Also getting a missed call from this number, and from the same number ending in 704 as well... seems very strange.

I tried calling back the numbers,

It rings then a beep and the call ends.

I'm thinking something weird.

I doubt they are but will try and find out.   I'm in Melbourne, Victoria and there would be no reason for them to call me.  When I answer I can't hear anything from them on the other end.  Just got another call today.  And they never leave a voicemail so it can't be that important or a prank call or something else.

I got calls from this number (0434 740 701) yesterday and today. I didn't get to answer them but when I tried to call back it cuts out after 1 ring... It seems really strange to me. I do not live in QLD and do not know why WESTPOINT AUTO INDOOROOPILLY QLD CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE would have my number in the first place... very suss indeed...

Been getting calls from this number ever since I requested details about a vehicle on Carsales.com.au.  I had received approximately 10 calls from the xxx701 and xxx704 numbers and there was never anyone on the other end.  However yesterday I answered a call from the xxx704 number and someone was there!  He claimed he was from the dealership that I originally made the vehicle request from and wanted to know if i was still interested in the vehicle.  I asked to call him back on a landline and he refused.  He knew nothing about the vehicle and was a waste of time.
Add your number to donotcall.gov.au ... and if they call you back quickly inform them that your number is on the do not call register ... and they'll disappear quickly!

I believe this caller works for a repossession company, and fraudulently claims to be associated with dealers where vehicles were originally purchased.

If anyone who has received calls from this number has outstanding issues with finance companies regarding motor vehicle loans, then I am likely correct.

A relative of mine has such issues, and this repossessor has somehow got hold of my phone number.

I am even more sure I am correct now.  I was rung again, and was asked if my relative was still driving the car, and if I knew how to get hold of them.  I asked where they were from, and if they could supply a fixed line phone number for me to call them back on, and they declined.

I remember that at one stage the car was in for servicing, and I had dropped it off and picked it up, and hence I gave the dealer my phone number in order for them to let me know the car was ready.  I imagine the dealer has passed my number on to this recovery agency.

If anyone else can corroborate this I woud be glad to hear so I can take action against the dealer for releasing my phone number to a third party without my permission.
