- 05063669724| 3 repliesgot a call from this number, i think it is a scam, people claiming to be microsoft service engineers trying to sell you a 12 month maintenance contract to ensure your PC runs faster and error free. i believe it is a scam and you should not allow to log on to your PC

- Rocking hillbilly| 3 repliesGot a call from what appears to be Asian call centre (International caller display number - Indian sounding caller, English not very good, apart from his script, he couldn't deviate off that), I pretended to not know what I was doing PC wise and baffled them with a geniune PC error issue that I recently had. "Come on guys, answer the question". I wouldn't remote desktop them even if they were genuine.
Dodgy IT people
05603669724 Brian or Paul seem to be the engineers I got refered to speak to.
Opton PC care (see optonpccare.com)
They start by asking you to run the event viewer and count how many errors, warnings there are.
"Oh my goodness over 10 your PC will die"
They want you to use www.logmein123.com account 949794 so you can give them all the access to your data ! Lets think about it NO ! PC problems, take it to a reputable technician that you can trust or PC World..
Waste their time and money if you like but always say NO and hangup. They sounded so delighted to get so far with me, shame my wireless network is giving me grief. Bye then..
More needs to be done to have these kind of people reported and permanantly blocked.- Caller: opton pccare

- Kitty| 1 replyI just got a phone call from these people who tried to scare me be saying that if i do not allow them to scan my computer for viruses, Microsoft are going to ban my computer from the internet. They say I will not get banned if they scan my computer and give it a clean bill of health.
The caller said his name was Richie Moore. He sounded Indian and had a very stron accent. His use of English was unconventional and made him hard to understand. He became quite agrivated that I would not cooperate with him.
This is obviously a scam to get access to your PC. Do not give then access.
They told me that the got my contact details from BT. I am not a BT customer and have just reported this call to BT and asked them to circulate the information. The BT operator said she would inform management straight away.- Caller: Opton PC Care

- bena gyerekI got a call from them saying my computer had viruses, was sending out error messages, and they had been employed by Microsoft to contact me about it.
I asked him to give me an email address so I could confirm he worked for the company (Opton), and so I could call Microsoft to confirm the company was employed by them. He kept ignoring my requests and trying to get me to go to my computer to run some kind of diagnostic. When I refused, he handed me over to a supervisor.
The supervisor then said they had nothing to do with Microsoft. When I asked how they got my contact details, he said most of the PC users they had surveyed had this problem. I told him never to call me again.
Both guys had south Asian accents.- Caller: Opton PC Care

- Dave| 1 replyMicrosoft have published a warning about this scam at http://www.microsoft.com/australia/presspass/ ... g-on-phone-scam
It is worldwide. - Maureen ColeHad a call from Opton Security telling me that my PC is about to die and that they are the service engineers calling on behalf of Microsoft who could fix it by accessing my computer. I asked for their company details so I could check them out and the number I was given was 01422 893785. I never had any intention of letting them anywhere near my computer but was fascinated by the sheer cheek of the guy - telling me I was about to let my computer die because I was ignoring his offer of help. I asked for authorisation from Microsoft and was told that they are "too big" to contact me but that Windows has been generating an error message that it couldn't send because my computer was very very damaged. He wouldn't tell me how he got my details but knew my name and telephone numner and indicated that he knew my address (though he wouldn't confirm it). When I insisted on knowing where he had got this info from he said he had been given it by Microsoft.
Sounded like a call centre and the guy didn't speak great english and had an asian accent. I'm an older lady but reasonably clued up but it worries me that a lot of people would be very worried by calls such as this.- Caller: Opton PC Care

- Ralph Cox replies to securitycheck123I too have been through this. I signed up for a 4 year contract. What I read here made me think the company was a scam so I've cancelled my credit card to be on the safe side there and run a full scan on my PC. Following a talk with my bank, I sent an email to optonpccare to cancel my order and ask for a refund. That has set the cat among the pigeons. Opton rang me back immediately in a state of distress! They promised to send further details about their company. They convinced me, subject to seeing what they send me, that they are genuine (although difficult to understand through their accents!). I will review this when (if) I see their further information and have give them 24 hours to convince me before I start action through my bank to recover. At the moment I think they are expensive but genuine although their selling methods are reprehensible.
- SGI just received a call from a person representing the Windows "Customer Service Centre." I nearly got tricked, because having an out of date laptop it has been coming up with frequent error messages and closing the browser on itself. When the heavy Indian accented lady told me they had received error messages from my comp I believed it true with all the "send error report" boxes I tick when my sessions unexpectedly close. I went through the process of 'Start' > 'right click on My Comp' right through to looking under the Event Viewer, when the lady nearly had a heart attack that I already had over 60 error and warning messages. Stupidly I allowed remote access to my computer where she checked some further errors, but when brought me to the page 'optonpccare' and saw that to fix the PC problems and error messages meant parting with $257, I told her to call me back. Thank goodness I did. I've set up scans, removed all Remote access from my computer, and will tell her where to go when she calls back on Monday. Seems to be a scam to get money out of you, and they are really very pushy. BEWARE!

- Jemma| 1 replyMy mother was taken in by this scam today, and allowed remote access. Fortunately she didn't part with any money, and has asked them to call back tomorrow as she wanted to talk to me first to ask advice.
As she has already allowed remote access, I am worried about what they may have done. I was looking for advice as to what sort of action I should take on her laptop (scans etc) to ensure that they have not done anything malicious, as I am not too clued up on these things.
I'm also looking forward to the engineer calling back tomorrow, as I will be in to take the call and to let them know exactly what I think of their selling techniques...- Caller: Opton PC Care
- tonehad the same call today for the 5th time after telling these scammers not to call again.. they are persistent i must say.. i even offered to rip the callers head off at one stage but he persisited!!

Computer is now unable to go into the internet.
They took off my Vista Anti Virus Protection and now my PC Optimisation is totally compromised. Alerts saying Hijack, etc.

- bella replies to someoneJust had my third call from what sounds to be the same company although they never mentioned a company name only Microsoft. The "microsoft certified" engineer was very pushy on each occasion. I was sure I had never clicked to send error report however I thought it might have been my daughter. I let them talk me through to the remote access part. (a different remote access webpage than mentioned earlier). When I refused to give him access I was passed to a supervisor who insisted he would give me his name and microsoft certified id no for me to check on google. He hung up when i insisted he send me his details for me to check first. Definitely a bunch of very pushy scammers! I am also concerned where they got my name, number and address from.
- ann jacksonHad the call let them chat away for 5 mins when I did not manage to get the screen up that they wanted they passed me on to another chap he went an again for another 5 mins and asked me WHAT DO YOU HAVE ON YOUR SCREEN NOW and I replied only four letters what are they he asked S C A M I told him but I don't think he could spell. It was very rewarding to have kept in on the phone for 10 mins (which he paid for) while I drank my coffee
- TimI just had 2 calls from Opton PC Care who told me they were based in Harley Street West London.
The first pitch was that my PC, like many others, produced lots of reports which were available on the internet. Passed to his supervisor who spoke clearer English and he focussed on computer maintenance. Both emphasised they were UK based. Second caller accused me of wasting his time when I turned down his offer. Not to be trusted in my view.- Caller: Opton PC CAre
