Anyone know who these muppets are? as soon as i answer they hang up, tried searching for their number but cant find it on the net as yet, any help would be helpful.

They called me tonight saying they were the Lifestyle Centre in Harpenden wanting to complete a questionnaire. When I asked if they conformed to TPS regulations, the person hung up. I imagine they are a call centre outside of Europe and therefore flout the rules and regulations.

Had 3 calls today. One from 01113, 2 from "Internationsal Out of Area". First one rang off before I could answer, second said they were from the lifestyle research centre and hung up as soon as I said we were on the TPS. Third also said they were from the lifestyle research centre, when I pushed they said the company was based in harpenden but he was calling from india, nice chap actually was good not to hand up on me when I said we had signed up for TPS.

Can't find any record of this place in Harpenden on the internet though, so seems suspicious to me.

Got a call from 01113 but didn't answer it in time - no message left on answerphone.  An hour later got a call from "International out of area".  They asked for the previous occupant of the house by name, said they wanted me to complete a survey.  I asked the company name - 'Lifestyle Research Centre'. Asked to speak to Supervisor.  He initially pretended a technical fault was preventing him from hearing me, when I didn't hang ug he eventually spoke.  Asked for company name and address, he would not give it.  Mentioned that I was TPS registered, he claimed that as they weren't selling anything they were exempt.  Asked again for company contact details and he pretended he couldn't hear me again ...then he hung up.

who gave my number to these people?

We had three calls yesterday from 06468451872.
I asked where they got my number and thegent said I had entered a competition within the last few weeks and given my details or been approached in an airport. He said he was doing market research and would I answer some questions, it would only take a minute and he would be very quick. I told him I didn't want to participate and he hung up.

Came through to me as an out of area number. When I asked the name of the company he said it was the Lifestyle research centre. When I asked for the telephone number he hung up on me. Clearly calling from abroad. Is there nothing we can do about these unwanted and intrusive calls?

just had one of these calls. I was able to chat to the caller for a while... i asked her what companies they represent and she said Cancer Research UK and Thomas Anderson. I asked which company she was specifically representing on that call and she said simply "all those companies".

The moment I mentioned TPS she said she would delete the number and hung up.

I might put a call into Cancer Research UK to see if they know of these people and whether they use them or not.

Had a call from this company, today, and the guy hung up as soon as I said that I had never heard of them!!  This is definitely from India or similar...very rude to hang up...at least explain who you are!  The number was, conveniently, unavailable!!

Same bunch just called here. Another scam from the upcoming identity theft centre of the world that is India. Most id filching attempts (email and phone) seems to be coming from there at the moment.

Perhaps our government needs to have a word with theirs about the ongoing nonsense.

NB Site operator... you need a call type for 'identity theft scam' to make it clear to visitors here that it is absolutely illegitimate!

Mark, no-one gave them the details. They've got hold of the complete list of addresses and phone numbers. Not difficult given the phone book details that BT and other operators happily hawk to all and sundry.

TPS fails because they're based outside of the UK.

Get caller ID, and block known bad numbers.

Oh no! I had these people call me today. The line was bad but eventually so I didn't catch the company name initially, but as I've done bonafide market research before I started answering questions, but something felt not right about the whole call. It was clearly from abroad and some of the questions were most peculiar. I refused to answer some, but by the end was beginning to fear a scam of some kind.

So, what are they going to do with the information I gave? And why did they want to know my first name? Can anyone reassure me that they are simply getting round the TPS (which we also belong to) rather than that they are actively stealing identities?

Hi, received a call last night and two further this morning(27Feb). When I asked for a number to complain to the Indian sounding guy said I should go ahead and complain and promtly ended the call.
At least the address they have is an old one.
The company was "Lifestlye resarch centre". Two of the calls were "international" and the other was from "07784"

Had a call from this number today from an Indian sounding gentleman who asked if I was the lady of the house, he said the survey would only take 1 or 2 minutes and then proceeded to ask me my post code and house number. I asked him how he had obtained my phone number as I am ex-directory and also registered with the telephone preference service - he hung up before I finished speaking!

Had 2 calls from this number tonight No one there

They are also now calling using the faked CLI of 0646 8451863

It seems I'm just on a long list of people getting pestered by these. I've had them hang up on me when I said I wasn't interested, just had one guy now saying he will take my telephone number off their list. Lets see how long it is before someone calls again.

Is there anyone we can report this to in the UK?

20 March 2010 - another call from Lifestyle resesrch Centre - that is 4 in the past 3 weeks - I usually answer my phone with the last 3 digits of my phone nunber - so I adopted the procedure of lifting the phone and saying nothing - today there was another call with very insistent Indian voice wanting to know my name and he would not answer any questions about who was calling or why - I hung up immediately - these calls lasted only a few seconds - I am with TPS

A bad spammer, using silent calls. Don't do business with them. The have total disregard for the TPS.
