I will like you to send me some pictures of the present look of the car. I love this particular model. I will be very happy if the car is mine. I will also want you to know I will be paying you with a banker's draft, the amount on this draft will be more than the price of your car [overpayment]. The excess funds on the draft will be for my agent for pickup of the car and some of my other items I already bought inside and outside UK. Once you have funds cleared into your account you will deduct your total money plus the extras from the funds and wire the excess to my agent for pickup, so that they can proceed with the necessary paperwork and arrange with you a convenient date and time for pickup. sellers beware, I've been contacted by a different group

I've had 2 similar emails for my car - I immediately recognised them as scams. The first one I reported to the police, as I thought that since they are sending someone round, the police could nab them, but they don't seem to be interested. Is there any department dealing with this kind of fraud?? 99.9% of people wont fall for it, bt those that do.....

Just had the same e-mail for my bank details from AndrewSimon@gmail. Exact same wording and a £200 additional sum offered.

Got an email from Andrew Simon, wanting to buy our BMW £19,500. But he wants to pay by transfer. He says he is working in Dubai.

Sent me a £5500 cheque for a £2000 car, fraudulant cheque from a bank account closed in 2007!! He must think people are proper stupid!!

My wife & I received a similar e-mail for the sale of her car, here is the email:-

I believe you are having a great weekend over there, I will want you to know that payment of £5,900 has been issue out to you work address and it should be in your post by Monday or latest Tuesday, as soon as you get it please do get it deposited in your bank account and let me know the exact day your bank says it will be cleared in order for to get in touch with my shippers for the picking of the car as you will sending the excess funds on the payment to them for the pick up.

I just dont get it!

I know its a scam, obviously!! But how!?
Surely if he does end up sending you the cheque as above and it dont clear what does he gain!??

I've had about 10 of these emails since I advertised my car in Auto Trader. This ones good - 'i intend to give the car a new look and which i will forward the pics to you after General Maintanance have been done on it....it will be Fully Pimp and the Colour will be Change.'...as if I care about that?!

Here is the message:
