- IanHad a call today at 3.15pm from a man with an Indian accent who said his name was Julian and that he was a Microsoft Certifed Engineer and that his company had been monitoring problems with my computer for two weeks.
I told him i didn't believe him,it was a scam and that he would most likely want me to download some piece of software for which i would be charged or charged to remove it.
Man said it wasn't a sales call and by then the bu++s++t alarm had been ringing for some time so he was told the call was being recorded and i would report him to BT for harassment and then put the phone down on him.- Caller: checkmypconline

- Dan| 4 repliesGot exactly the same today. As I was in a hurry and not thinking got drawn into it - what an idiot I am!
- Mark replies to Dan| 3 repliesHow did you manage to get out of it, if you have? My father appears to have signed up for the service, despite the fact the PC is barely 6 months old..
- Neil D replies to MarkI'm an idiot too! Did you manage to get out of it?
- Holli replies to Mark| 1 replyMy elderly father has also fallen victim of this scam. He suffers from alzheimers and agreed to the sign up when I was out and paid out £150 for some cheap software that doesn't even work. I called the support line who are based somewhere on the other side of the world. They were abusive with one calling me " a disgusting lady". I am appalled and so angry at their audacity to just cold call and take money off the vulnerable like that. I asked for a refund, point blank refused and given abuse along with it. Anyone got any advice in solving this??
- Nan replies to HolliContact your father's bank a.s.a.p. Make them aware of his illness and ask for the credit/debit card payment to be stopped. Also contact Action Fraud via their website. This scum really are the lowest of the low.

The 'Supervisor' then started threatening me by saying he was going to cancel my Windows 7 registration. Disconnecrted my pc from the router, removed the remote access software they were using. - baggins 1| 1 replyI got called today and stupidly gave them remote access to my old microsoft laptop - thankfully I use a Mac for all internet banking, buying on line etc - however they were quite abusive and threatening that if I didn't pay up my laptop would be rendered as useless and wouldn't restore what they were doing on it........I finally got rid of them and didn't pay them a penny - but am worried that they may have left some way of re-connecting or infecting my computer and also any others that are connected to this server. I have reported it to the police and the government fraud on line people. Company is called checkmypc on line and give an 08005200304 number. Say they are registered in the UK as Check My PC on Line Ltd, 145-157 St John Street, London EC1V 4PW - Company No: 07562602 - this is through the Companies House website - all through google (apparently) - www.checkpconline.com. Gave a name as khalilchakin who is apparently a developer for microsoft - have to say was convincing! Help!

- anyroads replies to baggins 1If anyone has paid them money, complain to the credit card company and say you thought you were dealing with Microsoft. Get the email address of the "abuse" or whatever the credit card company uses for disputes.
Tell these people you are raising a Disputed Transaction Form to the credit card company. Bombard the credit card company with emails, using words like "fraud" and asking if the senior management of the credit card company are aware of the selling methods of this company and of course, copy all emails to all the email addresses you have for the company.
