They rang me on my old mobile number looking for someone with the same last name and initial as my first name. They did not identify themselves. I'm annoyed they had my mobile number. Who sold them my info? Irritating. What a horrible job though.

Got a call from them and after finding out who they are on this site tried calling them back (I don't know anything I owe that could be going to a debt collector so wanted to know what the hell it was about).

They couldn't find my nam or my number on their system so lord only knows how/why they were calling me.

Fair enough if they get your identity mixed up... I just logged on to see who was calling me.
I owe colection house a small amount of money (under 2k) for a fence i crashed into that was originally dealt with suncorp insurance but later forwarded to them. I con honestly say the Lady I deal with has been extremely helpfull and kind in reguards to payments and has also given me the option to pay a bulk amount but cheaper than the original bill... She also offered to stop my direct debits while I was not working to save me incurring overdrawl fees from my institution...

Overall I think the attitude in which people deal with situations reflects on the outcome...

    It is Collection House LTD.
They try it on, scare tactics, bullying, lies and essentially thuggery tactics.

All you need to do, as with all bully tactic employing fascists, is IGNORE THEM.

They do not have a leg to stand on when they call a private phone number without having obtained permission from the actual owner of the private number to obtain their information.
If obtained via a third party, then, depending on the circumstances of obtainment, the thrid party is thereby copable with benefitting from the proceeds of criminal activity.

You sound like a guy who's did 3 months of a law degree. How much money do you owe them?

It is Collection House, yes they are a debt collection agency. They will ask you your full name, DOB, and address. If you feel uncomfortable doing that, take their number and call them back.
If you're just trying to weasel out of paying a debt, simply hang up and go about your business. Just try to remember that credit defaults follow you around for quite some time.
You may not even have a debt with them, they may simply be looking for someone with the same name as you.

Just remember what you did about your debts when 3-4 years from now you're trying to finance a new car/house/mobile phone/rental application and getting knocked back from everyone. These days, even moving to the UK or NZ won't get you out of paying a debt. Most times they're just looking for a payment arrangement from you. They may demand that you pay in full, but most people can't. Tell them your sob story and make a payment arrangement

    I don't owe them a thing.

They claim I owe them ~$1700 for their client.

They have sent me so many letters and the name at the bottom changes every time, went from desk manager, to area manager, to region manager, to collections manager, to some other manager, and now its back to the desk manager again!

the icing on the cake, they sent me a letter at the end of July offering me a reduced settlement (note, they OFFERED me it) which was swiftly IGNORED, then they sent me another letter which wasn't in follow up to the previous, just to the matter, and the amount was back up to the original.

Then the next letter they send is ANOTHER reduced settlement, but the amount was $0.00 due to a printing error and another letter was received rectifying and advising of the error, with the proper reduced settlement on it. IGNORED.

Then the next letter was back to the original amount.

in every single one of these letters, threats have been made about dates and what happens after said date.
As I have not entered into any agreements, any contract or any arrangements with this commercial agency, I owe them nothing, have no liabilities tied to them and am in no debt to them, nor do I have any obligation to act in any way!

    Read the letters people!

You can ignore it but they have the authority to issue a summons or statement of claim and take you to court.  the court can make judgement in your absence if you dont show and that will effect your credit for about 10 years+.  Not to mention they can then get a garnishment of your wages.

And you sound like you work for Collection House.  You obviously have never fallen on hard times and needed some help financially.  The majority of "sob" stories are actually a reflection of people's personal situations.  They are just bullies and try and intimidate you.  I wouldn't give my dog the job of a Collection Officer .. I love my dog too much.

They just called my office number looking for my company's payroll department, and told me their company name was "Jones King". I guess they use a variety of different names.
