Just keep ringing, hard to understand whatthey are saying or want

We also keep getting calls from this same number, to my mobile which I rarely use and seldom give anyone the number. They always leave a message, never seem to call when I have the phone on. It's hard to understand them, they have a strong foreign accent.They keep asking me to call the number and to quote a big long reference number. They also say the matter is urgent. I have no intention of calling them as if it was genuine they would call our home number. They also say it's an urgent business number, if it was a business matter, we would know about it already. I'd say it's a scam through and through !
There's too many scams and dishonest people around, if these were genuine they would send something in the mail or ring our business.

Woman just called my home number and asked to speak to xxxxx  or xxxxx (two family members) on an "urgent business matter". She sounded Indian and calling from a distance. Couldn't pronounce the names. I demanded to know who she was.  She told me Sarah from CMA and got edgy and started saying that family member 1  just had to ring her. I said "I really don't think so. What are you selling?" She said, "This is not telemarketing. It is a very important business matter and we must get hold of xxxxxx xxxxxx who is about 25 years old." She tried to make out it had nothing to do with me, when that just isn't possible. I said, "Right give me the number." She happily did that. Will not be telling the family member to ring. This scammer must make money from calls made to the number.

a person called tom rang looking for my bro and asked to speak to him and i explaianed he aint home. I had to ask who he was and where he was calling from, very unprofessional and he insisted i give him my brothers number. I had to tell me i dont know who u r, why your calling im NOT going to give out personal information. Do anyone know this number? and if its really a company? tom CMI 0736207577 also had a very long reference number. I must also say he did have a very think accent hard to understand as well. Not happy with customer service if it is a real company

We had the same thing, this morning at work. Indian / Asian sounding male voice asking for myself. My colleague answered the phone and they demanded that they would only speak to me personally. Funny thing is that our company is on the Telephone Preference Service. Again it was a caller who said they were CMA (Telephone  No: 073620 7577)

The 15/08/2103 I received on my mobile phone my first telephone call from this number. That day fortunately I couldn't answer because I missed the call. Generally before calling back an unknown number I first check it on internet and fortunately I found your comment. So thank you all for writing. I'm not going to call them back or answer at their calls..

PS: Form that day I've been receiving every day telephone calls from different unknown numbers also mobiles to which I'm not answering... I don't know how to do anymore!!!!!

This is a debt collection company who generally work with large corporations, such as American Express.  These people will be calling regarding an outstanding debt and are trying to either have the debt paid out in full or will assist in organising a repayment schedule between yourself and the company that is owed the money.  This is why they have personal phone numbers and know the names, even if they can not pronounce them, but can not discuss any of the information with anyone else due to privacy regulations.

Yeah I'd agree it's probably a debt collector representing American Express as my wife cancelled a card with them just last week and a person has been calling for several days asking to speak to her about a "financial matter" and asking her to call CMA back on that number, but they always call in the evening and are quite nosey. He wanted to know my name, my relationship to her, when she finishes work and what her mobile number is. I said I'm not giving out personal or private information.

They are a debt collection agency

This is not a debt collection agency because AMEX has no business to call you even if you have a debt with your bank, you only deal with your bank and my bank adviced me that I should not answer question or return any call. You can check and look up AMEX business contact numbers in your local area by google, there is no result for such number which they wanted you to call back. Don't fall for it.

I've never had an account with Amex and these people, with heavy Indian accent still try to ask for my address and DOB.

I had an Indian bloke chasing payment for an outstanding bill for Energy Australia. A bit hard to understand but was very understanding towards the end of the conversation.
