I rang this number back after I missed a call on my mobile and received a recorded message stating that this was a fundraising number for the rural fire service

I missed the call but the sender was identified as 'DONT ANSWER'. This was somehow entered into my contacts list memory. I noted the number and deleted it from my phone.

I answered the call from this number but was hung up on, but when i called the number back, a recorded message stated that this number is the Rural Fire Brigade and Fundraiser.

Missed a call from them they were trying to fundraise from teh rural fire service. I am already on the do not call register.

This number keeps calling me, but there is no one there when I answer.

the Do Not Call register does not stop callers from "charities" for fundraisers.

It is for the Rural Fire Brigade (assume Queensland, Australia) charity fund raising through an 'Art Union Raffle' to win cars.

Dial tone there when I answer.  I think you are meant to call *10# (last unanswered call)and then decide to donate to the Rural Fire Brigade as an unsolicited donation. Peculiar to google the number and find all these other peole have received these calls.  Must be heaps who don't bother to find out.

About every month I get a "missed call" from this number.  Using the ACMA website it tells me that it is coming from the Gympie area.  If it is a fund raiser for the fire brigade, as others say, then they must waste a lot of money on calls.

I got a call from this number today and I stupidly gave my CC details to buy tickets in a fundraiser raffle.

Just to confirm, this turns out to be a proper fundraiser.  I got alerted when they mentioned on TV NEWS that bogus fundraising phonecalls were being made around SE Qld.  Looks like the NEWS got it wrong.

Really wish the Do Not Call register included these and other phoney 'charities', such as the religious groups. It isn't like any of the money they collect gets where it is meant to. All wasted on salaries and company cars. Don't be fooled, this is a business raising money. Nothing more, nothing less.

I missed the call just then, so I google searched the number & found this forum - I have had numerous calls and most recenly asked them to stop calling me because I'm a student - ARRGH! stop calling meeeeeee!

great way to get fundraising when you keep pissing everybody off!!!

YOu ask them to take your numbers off their lists and to not call again. If they do, you can report them.

The rural fire brigade is a fantastic charity and those who doubt it should think again......who'll save your prperty if its on fire?? That is a legitimate number and the funds raised are spent on training and equipment for the rural brigades qld wide!!
