- HandymanMarlin Debt collectors are now calling people using a mobile number.
This is to hide their true identity. I don't owe anyone anything and haven't for some years now.
They are chancers who buy debts for 16p in the pound or less then try to make you pay the full amount.
They are not always bothered if the debt is too old to collect on or even yours. Could be you have a similar name so they will give it a go.- Caller: Marlin Debt Collectors.
- Greg replies to TessThey called me as well. I ignored the call and googled it. I have since signed that petition at consumer-revenge.
be carefull with these people they have got a 3 year charge on our flat that I only found out about recently. - Tess replies to Tess| 1 replyJust been talking about this with my boyfriend and a thought occurred to me - why on earth is a company like Marlin phoning from a mobile number?? Seems very sneaky and underhand.
- CleverClogs replies to TessMight Marlin have failed to pay their 'phone bill? ;-)
- ClaryWarning! Warning!
Just got a strange call from someone claiming to be from City Building (Glasgow) plumbers and said they were phoning about a job & gave me my previous address. I stupidly told them I didn't live there & gave them the street I now live on. 5 mins later a lady from ~Marlin ~ phoned , she asked me my name which I confirmed. She then said she had to go through some security questions. I pressed her on who she was & what it was about. She wouldn't give me any information until I answered questions. I told her I would only speak to her if she told me what it was about & hung up.
I think that it was concerning council tax debt which I tried to contest. At the time I was on maternity pay of £47 a week & could no longer pay full council tax. I tried going over to the council, wrote letters to try to resolve this but I think they passed on the debt to Marlin.
I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that if you admit to a debt then even if it is legally expired they can then claim for it. Never give any information over the phone!- Caller: Marlin

- Does it matter?Marlin Financial Services, lowlife Debt Collecting scum, in my case chasing a disputed, not to mention, unenforceable debt.
As well as using various landline numbers for their dubious activities they clearly have a block of mobile numbers.

- MalcolmMarlin are bugging me too. I responded to their number and a woman just said 'MFS'. I asked who it was that I was talking to and all the ill-mannered individual would say is 'reference number'. I told her that I didn't respond well to callers who behaved like her and hung up. Since then, as pointed out in the previous post, they've tried calling me on a raft of numbers, all of which have had changes in the last 3 digits only, as if I'm too thIck to spot that fact. Duh!
