They called me few times. Last time I was speaking with man who told me that I have debt and they would like to help me to solve my problems. He told me that his name is Neil Weber and he is ringing from Citizen Advice from UK Government. I told him that I will ring local Citizen Advice office and will ask them for appointment because I do not want to speak about my financial problem (that I do not have) by the phone. After this he wished me nice weekend. Be careful.

Called this afternoon. Straight away suspicious as digit short of  mobile number ! Answered and foreign male began to speak. Hung up straight away and blocked this number. Suggest scam call from overseas !

Rang me today and after pushing to find out who he was told me to F..k off put phone down and he rung back and just said F..k off again. This was at 1.53pm today. I told him it was against the law to swear at someone on the phone like that and he just hung up. He spoke with an Asian accent.

They've rung me twice now saying asking about my debts, I could barely understand the man his indian or eastern European accent was far too strong. He rang at 15:26 today and earlier in the week, I dont know if this is a con or not.

Hi yeah I had a call from the Asian male on Saturday about my debts he said he was from the office of fair trading (OFT) and said my creditors was not happy with my repayments and they were seeking possession orders.  I have rang my creditors and they said its not true and they were all happy.  The problem is that this person knew all my details incl that I was on benefits.  Please be aware of these phone calls and do not give out any information over the phone.

I Had the same this week and this morning again! There is a man calling from Citizen Advise on the phone saying I have debts and I kept asking him what are you talking about? I don't believe you! I believe if I had debts my credit card banks should call me and not you! Then he switched of! There are really bad people out there!

Call centre type call on my mobile, Asian/Indian gentleman calling from the Office of Fair Trading regarding my creditors and my debts. As I am in the fortunate position not to have any debts I knew this was a scam.

just got call from this no saying he's from uk gov and they've been notified i've got unsecured debt which 40% can be written off - I just let him talk and when he said why you aren't you answering me i said i was just listening he hung up! only debt we've got is mortgage which is all in order.......

Had several missed calls from this number....glad I didn't answer it after reading this...thx all

Yes it's scam. The person call me twice with different number also I did ask about company name and details but nothing.   Be carful with this people .

Answered couldn't understand him so he is blocked [***] holes

Just got call at 12.50.  Did not answer - suspected the number. Glad I checked this website afterwards & saw the comments.  Immediately blocked number.

This is definitely a scam they called me today purporting to be the citizens advice I said I had no debts and he hung up. They are definitely scammers

asian man told me i had unsecured outstanding debts i needed to repay , told him i did'nt , when i asked him where he was ringing from he hung up.

Just taken a call - was given the name Neil from Citizens Advice Bureau. Said that I had debt which I was paying off each month on time (which I am) and my creditors have put me forward for a government backed scheme in which I have to pay £32.39 (or some other very particular amount) to my creditors and 70% of my debt will be wiped. I asked why my bank hadn't told me about this then, if I have to pay them. He was about to come back with his reply but addressed me with my maiden name - which my loan isn't taken out in. I told him I didn't want to know and hung up!

Just had a call from this number at 13:00 on 17/08/2015
Bad line, a man with a thick accent.
Told me i was in debt and he needed to speak to me. I told him straight away that I knew i was in no debt, he hung up straight away.

Horrible man with a foreign accent, back chatted everything I said. I told him I don't have debt, that it is illegal under data protection to cold call people who have opted out under telephone preference. Said he could see I had debt, at which point I asked how and said that it was not possible to obtain credit information about people without their consent. He was a thoroughly nasty person. Fraudulently said he was connected to CAB and when I said I knew that was not the case he said he was from the UK government, which I once again challenged. Then he became threatening when I said I was hanging up and said it would not be good for me to hang up! Terrible experience! I only answered because I thought it was a delivery driver's mobile number in connection with directions! Do not answer under any circumstances!

I had a call from an Asian man saying he was from citizens advice  debt management for the UK government said I had debts and told me which companies I had that with and I was only playing little and he could write 75% of my debts off today if I signed up to pay £80. A month for 5 years they wold wipe the rest off. Told him I couldn't pay £80. To someone I don't know.And he said I should get another job or get housing benefit. I told him I don't need housing benefit as I pay my rent. He did he has a friend in housing benefit that would sort it out for me. So I said have a nice day as I don't want to be rude. And put the phone down .

It strikes me there is a massive data protection issue going on here if these con artists have actual details of people's debts! I have been trying to phone Action Fraud (police) all afternoon and it either cuts out of keeps holding indefinitely, what a useless service from our supposed law enforcers!! No wonder foreigners think we are a soft touch! I want to know how they found my ex directory number, how they had my name and how they can obtain details of people's debts! This is appalling and there seems to be absolutely no way to take the matter up!

I received a call from a lady with a strong Asian Accent claiming to be from the Citizens Advice gave her name as Gloria Thompson (not likely). When I asked said I would call her back she said this is not possible and when I said I wasn't going to discuss my finances on the phone she got really irate and shouted 'do you want my help or not' I said not and she said she could tell I was desperate and would try to help. I terminated the call.
