Consumer compensation service...sounds dodgy to me. said they was gonna send sm1 at my house to sign some paperwork.asked them to post it to me instead.i want to see what the conditions are. be aware if they ask for money before the claim it is a scam.

Just had this woman on the phone, busily asking for my debit card instructions and WANTING £49.99. Reckons I was mis-sold personal protection policies on loans (CAHOOTS, NORTHERN ROCK AND ALLIANCE AND LEICESTER). Apparently, I am owed £3500!!
Calls themself, CCS? Anyway, when I got defensive they referred to website saying they are registered with government with a link to this page, http://www.claimsregulation.gov.uk/search.aspx
The claim reference she gave me of CRM2828 gave me a company name,

COMPENSATION PROFESSIONAL NETWORK LIMITED.

I said that I doubt the government would get companies to ring up like this asking for money and I would check them out over next couple of days.
I rang 1471 and got telephone number 07893 072141 which is Swansea

I contacted CPN in Basingstoke to see if they are linked to this company in Swansea. Companies house say CPN employs two people. I found the number myself (0843 2890089). They confirmed that they were the same company and that CCS were a customer relations department in Swansea. They say that the loan companies do not want to deal with refunds so they hand them over to CPN who will then chase down the 15 million missold policies. I can claim it back myself but it would cost lots more through a lawyer. I am now intrigued enough to think this isn't a wind up. So will leave this up here and will report back. Will check the law on money sites like Motley Fool and put the word out about CPN to see how legitimate this is. To be honest cant remember taking out payment protection so will be contacting the loan companies too.

I have numerous missed calls from this number 0789 3072 140 and its getting a bit annoying and bordering on harrasment.

Why do companies do this? If they dont stop i will take the matter forward there is a law that you can now get done for harrasing people by phone and text.

It is there final and last warning better not contact me again or i will take it further.

I was sent an initial text informing me that I was entitled to make a claim up to nearly £4000 for an 'accident' I had recently. 'Text yes to get a reply'.
'What accident?' I thought.
So I Texted yes to find out what this was all about.
Got a phone call some days later saying
CCS: 'We received your text, can you give us some details of your accident'
Being an extremely mistrustful and cautious person I asked
'In relation to which accident are you talking about and where did you get my number to contact me about it'
CCS 'It would have been from a web application sir'
'I don't recall making one, please can I have your company details and office address'
CCS put phone down.
Rang back on home phone CCS refused to talk about the 'accident' they texted about and refused to give their company details again.
Phoned back using mobile - number not in use.

What sort of company phones you from a mobile, offers a possible compensation sum for an 'accident' and then refuses to talk about the 'accident' and refuses to give you a company address?!

Moral: Never give out your details to a 'company' before you find out exactly who they are.

I ALWAYS do these things first:
# Ask for THEIR details first.
# Get a legitimate Company Address and LAND LINE phone number,
# Check if they are a Registered Company (with Companies House)
# Ask who you are speaking to
# Where did they get your details from?
# What are they selling?
# Check their details and credentials on the internet before giving out any information about yourself. Their company will show up on forums when you do the search.
# If they are shakey about giving out their own info, END IT THERE.

In a nutshell;  You wouldn't give out your personal info to a complete stranger in the street so why do it over the phone?
YOU check THEM out first.

Ive been called by these people and now they are trying to flog insurance I called the FSA and they say they are in partnership with Financial Limited I called them and spoke to Ross Napthine.
I thought they couldnt cold call for insurance and mortgages. nThe directors of cpn are Nick Mead and David Buckley.

I received a text from a similar number saying I was entitled to £3500 from an accident,
I replied yes out of curiosity,when they called me the woman said she believed I would like to claim compensation for an accident.
When I asked what accident she hung up and I havnt heard anything since.I'll wait and see if there's any follow up calls

Same here but I have reported them to the justice department who oversee these groups apparently they are not registered, its intersting that they have a web site.
I asked for more info and to speak to the manager same as you all phone down.
I have had 43 calls from unknown callers this as to be them again

Does anyone have contact details for the directors (Nick Mead and David Buckley). I think a bit of phone scamming / harassment is in order. Let them know how it feels.

I've emailed the director and also called them to say I'm putting a complaint in to the relevant bodies, they seemed to take a really different tone after that and apologised and said they'd remove my details from their databases....  try it?

I have worked for a simular company to this, and must add to their defence that the numbers are brought in by affiliate companies who send these text messages, the affiliates we used most likely sold the same numbers to us as they did to many other companies like compensation professional network. So unfortunatly it was not an easy ride for us even though we were generally trying to help consumers. I know the calls are annoying as I have had them for many years myself but from working in a call centre in my early twenties I understand what they face on a daily basis and surely you all would agree its best these people are employed then sitting on the dole due to lack of jobs? If you are not interested be polite about it as you do not know if it is just one company calling you most of the people who work for a call centre are under 25s so atleast they have a job and remember that next time you want to be rude atleast they are paying their tax not living of yours!  And I found the people who were rude to you you would put back in the system so if you ask politely they will remove and you will find them more symptheic towards you for being called already.

Agreed these people calling are generally students trying to earn a living. This is not a new business just a different way of going about things. Companies pay them to generate leads for them of people who maybe have paid PPI and are genuinely due compensation. Its not a con this particular company is paid just to forward your details to the correct company who should be able to help you.  Annoying it is but then often you dont know you are due any compensation until someone points it out to you. The companies who took your money in the first place arent going to contact you to offer it back and apologise!!!  Take it as it is but if you feel they are becoming over annoying when you dont want them calling you there are various organisations who will get your removed from anylistings.  These people are just trying to earn a living. They are usually young and its their first bite at a proper job earning a salary.  If you arent interested politely let them know. You never know they may even get you in contact with someone who may be able to help you for a range of reasons and get you some money back.

Seems like these people are still up to their old tricks, this time using the name "Barney" and now using 07793004001. literally spent 2 minutes researching and see that an SRA alert has been issued.

The SRA has on 12th April issued an alert over unsolicited telephone calls being made to the public. The caller claims to be calling from ‘CCS’ and may use the name ‘Simon Davies’.
The phone calls ask the recipient for details of a personal injury or road traffic accident that they may have been involved in.
Any unsolicited phone calls purporting to be from CCS regarding personal injury or a road traffic accident should be reported to the police, especially if it involves the transfer of money. Solicitors can report the matter to the SRA on 0845 8500999 or redalert@sra.org.uk.
There is a genuine firm called Crooks Commercial Solicitors which is regulated and authorised by the SRA. This firm has a genuine website at www.ccs-law.co.uk. Crooks Commercial Solicitors confirm that these telephone calls are NOT made by them, or on their behalf, and are wholly unconnected with their practice.
