Sky just called me from this number.

This is NOT sky, when I refused to "confirm" my personal info he said he couldn't give me any offers. I hung up on him. I then called Sky who accessed my account and said it definitely was NOT them, they will never cold call you to offer anything. Any offers will either come through email or letter.

Just had a call off this number I won't answer numbers I don't know but guessing it's the same people/person

Just received a call on both my land and mobile. On pick up of mobile calling asked mr (my surname) was around, when I confirmed I wash that person, he just hung up.
Scam.......Scam........Scam.......... You ask me! Now put number on my ignore list.

Bugger, misread the telephone number thought it was a call I was expecting from BT, as above it was some idiot claiming to be from Sky saying they could save me money, that was enough for me, I ended the call before they had chance to carry on their bull shyte call

Just answered a call from this number and they hung up without me saying a word or them speaking to me, yet another scam no doubt.

Said they were sky. Put phone down on them. Landline stopped working for 10 mins after call.

Scam call from this number, pretending to be Sky!!!

Had a call today claiming it was Sky. Said that old customers feel like new customers get better offers so they were offering me, as a longtime customer, something extra? I asked for a call back tomorrow so I could check out the number. Glad I did now! Clearly a scam. Won't be answering the call tomorrow!

had 01792484615 first it was boilers, then this one I didn't answer, also had 2international no numbers this morn bet this all links to same call center

Missed call from this number, twice in a fortnight now.

Don't know who it was, but one of the comments above says Sky don't cold call to sell you stuff - they certainly do. It was only when I told them I'd cancel all my Sky contracts if they cold called again, that they stopped calling me almost daily.

Just called me, as I hung up so did they - then the phone stopped working for a few minutes afterwards?

Was it really sky though? or a scam trying to get your bank details.

This is a definite Scam, I have contacted Sky and they only use 0845 numbers so anyone calling from 0800 numbers is definitely not from Sky. You should contact Sky if this happens and get the number recorded.

Very convincing and asked for my sky password. I  asked for the number to call them back, the guy stayed very calm and very convincingly gave me sky's customer service number!  Called sky, it's not them!

Very convincing guy from 'Sky' asking to sort out the switch from O2 broadband to Sky, I called Sky to see if they were outbounding to their customers, they said no, it could be another provider trying to poach during the switch. When I asked for a number to ring them back they said it was only an outbound team.

Received a call from this number yesterday - it was in this instance Sky (from a team who specialise in making offers for transferring o2 broadband customers).

After reading this I was worried it was a scam, but I asked them to authenticate by telling me my o2 account numbers etc which they did. I got a great offer (free TV and broadband for the year if I just pay the line rental).

I got given the normal order details, setup dates etc. I then rang Sky myself from the number visible on their website, and they confirmed this was all correct. It seems it was a genuine number in my experience, but I think they (and other companies) need to find some way of a 'two way authentication' so we know that they are Sky etc.

My advice on calls like this: Stay calm and ask them for some authentication (e.g. account numbers etc), or give them the wrong details / password for your account and see if their system identifies it. Genuine companies will try and help though, the person I spoke to was very professional and understanding. If you're really unsure don't take any offers etc, ask for a callback (and check with the company ahead of time whether this is normal to get these calls) or cut off the call so they ring you back at a later stage once you've checked if they're genuine, (and obviously lookup online the caller ID - but i'm guessing if you're reading this you already have).
