    Hello, is that Mr Stephen?

    No, Sorry? Who?

I'm ringing to say congratulations, you've been selected to win a luxury holiday

Oh Wow! now let me tell you you're breaking the law as we're on the telephone preference service on the number you've dialled.... <click - sound of them hanging up>....

I then called them back from a private number that can't be traced to a landline (VOIP) - Toucan Customer care main menu -

i didn't take it any further but the menu options sound like they've been tampered with...

Just call call from Toucan even though we're with TPS. Fortunately I didn't answer it.
They're actually a telecoms company. It's quite amusing, if you go to their website they actually offer to sign you up with TPS.

    Hi
Had a call from this number; immediately warned the agent that we were registered on TPS.  She got really angry and challenged me! I put the phone down, she left the phone on automated call which meant that the phone kept ringing every 5 mins and nobody at the other end.  I was told that calls from this number claim reverse charges from the receiver i.e. I will pay for these calls.
I have just complained to the TPS and await further information.

Since 25/04/2008 I have received 7 calls from the number ID 0008000613615. The call rings  and if answered goes dead.

Is this great getaways or Toucan Telecoms.(0800613615).

Either way it is unwanted a nuisnace and possible a hoax as most telemarketers withhold numbers.

Call at 8.20pm. Silence then hangs up. Really intrusive and feels threatening when companies behave like a bunch of phsycho stalkers...!

The caller asked to ask to Mr G****. When I asked which one, the caller hesitated and stated first name. Caller was trying to sell "low-cost" holidays.

When asked which company he was from, he stated MakeMyHoliday.co.uk, a domain that does not exist.

I asked how the company got our number and was told that this was because a holiday was booked via them previously which I knew to be false.

After telling the caller not to call back and to remove our details frm their list, I dialled 1471 for the number to hear "Welcome to Toucan Telecom...".

I don't have caller ID, but linked into this web~site looking for information on Great Getaways ~ having just had the offer of cheap holidays... as per one of the posters ^^^ up there.

I was directed to their web~site, and it all looks fairly genuine, albeit I won't be buying into it as it is only a discount voucher scheme linked to much more expense that they lead you to believe.

Australia itself has 1300 for free calling, not 0800 (We have 0800 here in New Zealand).  None of the numbers on GG's "contact us" page have a link to the number this web~page is about.  However....

0061 3 by itself is the international area code for Melbourne, Australia (well, for all of the States of Victoria and Tasmania, in fact)

I'm just posting this to suggest that somehow Great Getaways is getting caught up, somehow in some type of real scam from an American telecommunications company, by the sound of your other posts.

The person at the other end was definitely NOT an Australian however.  In fact... his accent was rather peculiar (think Darth Vadar on speed!).

I finally blew him off by saying I'd check out the web~site, and he could call me in an hour to see if I wished to procede.

    Interesting!

Had a ring from a guy saying he was from Great Getaways Australia based in Melbourne, offering vouchers for accomodation etc for a one time payment of $199.00, just starting out in the New Zealand market and I was one of 50 only lucky NZ'ers to be chosen from the white Pages to be a recipient of this great offer...YEAH RIGHT.

Definately not an Aussie accent either...

Looks like we were suckered in by these peoples talk and paid on our visa for a great getaways package.NZ$250, came up on visa statement, as Great Get Aways Noida in (all in caps).

I did look up the web site while I was talking to them and the vouchers they talked about were the ones advertised, and all the phones numbers and info was what she(archie) said, she then put me through to her boss (henry) who gave more info.It did appear genuine and was on the website. So went ahead with the deal as we do travel in Australia and intend to do more in the next couple of years.Accents seemed Asian, but wasnt surprised by this, most NZ marketers appear asian or indian.

Well we are still waiting for our package, and then to top it iff they asked me to reccommend them to a couple in Auckland a few days later. I said they appeared to be a real deal(cause of the website) but couldnt say much more as hadnt got the information package with membership details.

Looks like we have lost our money.

Don't know about the phone number but I got a call from the same company, fortunately at work (I don't give out home number).  Typical schpeel, cheap holiday 79GBP for 2 weeks for 4 people.  Warned about needing to attend presentation, 5GPB handling for each booking, only included accommodation so not really interested but they promised to send some details (already had my address) then they wanted my card details at which point I refused.  Spent ages trying to loose politely saying that I "trusted" them and was aware of cover on credit card purchases etc but was not going to buy anything cold called.

Gave them email via a spam handler so they can send me 2 emails before any further get eaten.

I'm another one caught out, a pensioner, argued about giving out my credit cards details and was also invited to check the web site. Finally gave in, but didn't give my full name as on visa so was surprised that Westac accepted it. Rang back to cancel next day as the package would not be any use to me,  but too late. Rang the Auckland number they gave me also and was told that they would listen to the recording of the phone conversation  to see if they thought I had been pressured. Another similiar call the following night.  No package has arrived. The names I dealt with [and argued with] were Frank Foster, Henry Williams and David, all Indian accents. The number I was given was nz099250469 buteach time  I rang I was connected to Melbourne.
