The number is from bilkers. Do not trust them.

there are 11 different complaints about these people.. that they are fraud...

They're a debt collection agency. Like baycorp. Do not under any circumstances call them. They are aggressive to the point of threatening to take all you own.

I just received a letter in the post saying "If you know the whereabouts of XXX call Alex.." as well. I put a photo of it on Facebook and a few other people said they got the exact same letter asking for the exact same person.

we received a letter looking for whereabouts of our son and asked us to call this 0800222378 and look for "Alex" and when we called, Alex is down with flu.  Instead the person asked for the contact details of our son which we did not give.  We just told the call receiver, "John" that we will ask our son to ring them back which will not happen now since we found out this scam.

I got the same plain looking letter asking for the where abouts of a family member.

Got that same letter with full name a reference number asking for Alex. When i called they didn't introduce themselves at all other companies that when you call do. I was concerned by this whole thing and  so i said that i had a missed call from them. She when asked got all defensive with me and wouldn't answer any of my questions...... This is dodgy...... Ill be reporting this to the police.

Yes, just received the same spam mail addressed to "The Occupier".
It is the full name of the previous house owner - dodgy as.

How can you report scam mail to the police??

I just received one of these in the post today, for the previous tenant of the house I'm renting. Has anyone reported it to the Police? If so, what did they do? I mean, it's so vague and has no information other than a reference number above the address box.

Have also received dodgy unprofessional mail to call above number about a bogus person who allegedly drives a car listed as stolen some years ago.  Put it back in the post.  Even the address on the note wasn't valid.
Call them - I don't think so! and I would advise anyone else who recieves mail from these scammers not to either.

I just received the exact same letter and I aint gona call it what sane person would do that it aint got no business name wat so ever scammmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just received a letter for my partner. The address is somewhat concerning as it slightly incorrect. Auckland and post code is before post code and suburb. Very informal letter. Not call them and won't be calling them either. May even blank out name on it and send to John Campbell.

The number for credit consultants is 0800 500 628. Do not call the 0800 number on the letter. This is a scam.

This number is registered to Credit consultants NZ Ltd. Just because it is not their contact number on their website doesnt mean its not theirs. They are Debt Collectors. It is NOT a scam. They are calling because the person whos name is on the letter owes money to someone and they have been contracted to find the person and collect it. They dont put info in the letters Privacy reasons. Yes, they all use Alex or John on the majority of these letters, its just a name to get you to call, less ppl would call if it said contact the call centre on 00000000... no one wants to repay bad debt and these guys are trying to find ppl dodging debt so they use as little identifying info as possible hoping that curiosity will get the person to call and then they hit you with the bad news. Those who think this is a scam are paranoid.

Hi, I was wondering if you went any further with this? I've just got this letter that was sent to a previous address I lives at. Not sure what to do, I can't imagine I owe anybody anything but if I did I would want to know. If anybody called can you please let me know what happened? Thanks
