Number calls regularly but hang up when the phone is answered

got caller id on my phone dont answer anything i dont recognise

Keeps calling my mobile and my work phone... but no answer!! Its a company called Telefocus LTD based in Bedford... flipping stalkers!

This company has featured in these columns before. Col calling is illegal but they just don't seem to get the message. Their details are:

I get at least 6 missed calls a day from this number...haven't answered one of their calls yet & don't intend to....If I didn't have a life I would consider doing the same to them!

Apparently they called me on behalf of Hotel Chocolat - bought my girlfriend an advent calendar from them online, so I suppose I must have missed one of the many "Please dont call me" tick boxes.

The problem is, the chocolate is so good they'll be tough to boycott...

Got a call today didn't answer- think I agree with other person who said it was Hotel Chocolat (I ordered from there last April!)- they are always ringing up with offers despite saying 'I don't want them!!

I've missed 2 calls from them in the last week, haven't answered any of them but I too have bought off Hotel Chocolat, not since last year though....

I was getting loads of calls from this number and I, too, have ordered from Hotel Chocolat in the past. I always figure if it is something important, they will leave a message!

The man on the end of the phone said he was from Hotal Chocolat and had my name.

Had a series of calls from this number last month so emaild Hotel Chocolat and got a reply back saying they had spoken to the company and removed my number.

This week guess what - another series of calls from the same number wanting to sign me up for The Hotel Chocolat tasting club

I have been getting daily phonecalls from this number.
I have just reported it to OfCom.......:

I've just had 2 calls from this number - did not pick up either. I have bought from Hotel Chocolat, but did not think they had my Mobile number

This number just called me - I called it back to tell them to stop calling. It was on behalf of hotel chocolat. I used their mail order service a year ago!

I have contacted Hotel Chocolat by email. They're "good guys", but seem to have teamed up with Telefocus, who are, (let's be charitable) a bit careless.

Hotel Chocolat have replied:-

"The number you provided actually belongs to a trusted long-term business partner of ours who call our customers from time to time to inform them of special offers.

So whilst the calls would have been regarding our products they would not have come directly from us.

I do hope that the calls did not cause you any distress.

Should you prefer not to receive such calls we would be happy to remove your number from our call list."

And when I sent them a link to this site, they have replied further:-

"Thank you for your email and for bringing this matter to our further attention.

We appreciate the feedback you have provided and please be assured that we will be raising this issue with Telefocus. Whilst they do provide us with a reliable, high quality service, we would not expect our customers to receive 'silent' calls.

I have updated our records so that you will receive details of any future offers by email only. This will come into effect within the next few days, during which time it may be possible that you receive a further telephone call. I apologise in advance for any further disturbance this may cause."

That sounds about as fair as you can hope for.

My phone is listed on the telepreference scheme by this company refuses to stop bothering me. They ring on behalf of companies I have already told I am not interested. I get up to three calls a day and they are not welcome. Sometimes the calls are just dead, and I find this very worrying in this day and age.

I keep getting calls from them that hang up. I only gave my number to Hotel Chocolat for queries about my order, so I've written to them to say:
1) I'm VERY disappointed that they've passed my number to a marketing company
2) If they must use a marketing company, they should sack this lot...what's the use if they hang up on you...sounds like they are bugging me and scamming Hotel Chocolat if they get paid per call!

Not the bst way to get me to place a repeat order anyway.

I have at least 3 calls a day from these people, and I have only picked up the once and there was no answer the other end! I too have order from Hotel Chocolat. Have reported to offcom.

Have a call from this number 08002585684 every couple of months.  Sometimes I have picked up only to have the person hang up.  Today I picked up and a woman shouted my name down the phone.  I asked who was calling and she hung up before I'd finished the question.  I have had them say before they are calling on behalf of Hotel Chocolat (whom I was a member with for over a year - LAST YEAR).  I have repeatedly asked them to not call me with offers as I can no longer afford them but they still keep pestering me.
