Just had a call from this company called Homeguard Direct PO Box 3326
Littlehampton BN16 9EU a lady called Adele rang me to say that my £6 monthly cover of my Satellite system was to go down to £5 as i havn't had a call out in 2 or 3 yrs,i am actually paying over £8 a month to Sky repair plan & i questioned the £6 a month she quoted me & i said i am paying £8 & she said 'oh have you gone over to Sky +' & i said yes,& i have had Sky + for 3yrs & then i asked her if Homeguard was anything to do with Sky repair plan & she said yes we are a 3rd party, we get call outs from Sky when your system goes wrong, she wanted my debit card details over the phone, i never give my card details to anyone over the phone,i told her i was not happy doing this because i have never heard of Homeguard,so she said that she would send a company email for me to read & get back to her,in the meantime i rang Sky repair plan up to ask about Homeguard & if they worked for them, low & behold they had never heard of the company & that they don't work for Sky repair plan, just like Satellite direct, they tell you that they work for Sky when they don't, if this company rings you, DON'T give them any card or bank details,i did ask her if they worked with Sky repair plan, then they must have my DD details on there system, she said they were not allowed to keep them on file for security reasons & that is why she wanted my card details, i just knew something wasn't right, i would have ended up paying Sky repair plan & Homeguard as well, lying toerags.

Have had a similar phone call telling me exactly how much I was paying and that it was going down. They were also saying that they part of Sky (who when I spoke to them had never heard of them!).When I asked them how long I'd been with their company I was told it would take 10 days to find out!

Watch this space as I told her to ring me back tonight, can't wait to tell her what I think

similiar incident ... a bit of advice before phoning them up to cancel go and cancel the direct debit /standing order before notifing them cos the 10 day rule is a put off so they can fleece your bank account before you cancel . i had a similiar experience sat. direct , although they only took £10.95 out of my account  a friend of mine was not so lucky  in two months they took £120 out be fore he had a chance to cancel . they are not part of sky repair.

I actually had a totally different experience with Homeguard Direct. At no one point in the conversation did the lady say she was from sky. All of the companies that provide warrenty for Sky are third party insurers so they are exactly the same as Domestic and General (the company who pay Sky to use Sky's name which I think is even sneakier!). They are actually cheaper and have their own engineers which I know that plenty of companies (including Domestic and General) don't.
They have been very friendly and have worked fantastically for us. I am pleased to have saved that money - I live in the area in which all of the satilitte companies work and so I know a lot of people have been duped by satilitte direct who are a fraudulant company. Of course they're going to ask for payment - what company doesn't? It's only because of bad companies that people don't trust good companies like this. Have a look at the website and ring them back to make your savings!!

Good company. Saved money. Deal done.

NOT FRAUDULANT! I have recieved a breakdown engineer from them and he was very efficient and with me the same day.

I work for the company....we ARE NOT ALLOWED to say we are from sky - any misselling and there is disciplinary action taken against you, all calls are recorded....unfortunately Sat Direct has tarnished every warranty company with the same brush.

Sky repair plan AKA Domestic & General sub contract their work out to engineering firms as do most third party insurers, I have, sorry, used to have insurance with Domestic & General but when they told me it would take 5 days to get someone out for my washing machine I told them to take a hike.

Car Insurance firms are third party - tescos don't fix your car do they.

Life Insurance - tescos don't pay it out do they.

    At Homeguard Direct:-

You get a direct line thru to the engineers (and it is a freephone number) you speak to a real human being, extention numbers & names are always left, and unlike a lot of other companies a disclaimer is read to you at the end of each call if you take out the insurance.

Have been inundated with calls from Homeguard over the last three months and the one point that makes them seem dodgy, is that they always state that the repair plan for my "standard" sky box is due for renewal. However, I upgraded to "Sky Plus" about 18 months ago. I always tell them that I am very happy with my current repairer and that I have no wish to change.

A lady called me from Homeguard Direct to say as I haven't had a call out on my Sky products I was entitled to a reduction from £6.00 to £3.33 per month. As she couldn't give any of my details regarding subscribers or registration number of my Sky agreement I was imediately suspicious and said I'll think about it. She is calling back in two days so I'm glad I found all these comments,

    The company is dead?

When they phoned me up they said that my pay monthly Sky Protect Plan was being discontinued and I had to switch to a quarterly payment plan, so hence i assumed they were with Sky. I only just found out from Sky that I have been duped and need to go see my bank. Sadly they have already taken out my first payment of £45.

it was satellite direct that is dead not homeguard direct - they offer very competitive prices and do exactly the same thing as sky for much less of the price because they're a engineering firm!
