Why do they never leave a message but re-call time and time again, surely 1 call and 1 message that will be returned if you are interested in their product makes money saving sense in this credit crunch atmosphere, anything else is intimidating.

Call ever couple of days never leave a message...

this is british gas i rang the number back and it says you were called by british gas about a non urgent matter and we will call back. hope this helps

I was a British Gas customer many years ago - now have a different supplier but they keep on phoning to say they will do it cheaper - some hope - now just don't answer !!

I came back from a two week holiday and out of my 10 messages 8 of them were hang ups from this number.  What a pain they are!!

this is British Gas (or at least they claim they are). They had information that I was a customer of BG a while ago (or it could be a whild guess as many people were British Gas customers at some point), they tried to get information about my current supplier and to convince me to switch to British Gas.

I am also getting calls from this number. They hang up when I answer it though. Very annoying as when you call back it is indeed BG saying it was a non-urgent matter and they call back in a couple of days but then provide you with a number to call if you don't wish to be contacted. Again an 0800 number and therefore chargeable. This infuriate me! Why should I pay to put a stop to something I never wanted in the first place! What a joke. Makes me even more glad I am no longer with BG.

HI all - There is not enough numbers in this telephone number (there has to be 11) so I assume everyone means 0800 072 4150.  This is indeed British Gas trying to flog you something.  If you do not want them to call back you have to ring 0800 072 4150 (free to BT users) and tell them.  Its an automated system.

just had a call today from this number. The guy was very proud to be able to tell me I was already a British Gas customer. I replied I already know that, he went on trying to reaffirm that I was a gas customer of theirs. I said yes and do you know what, it comes into my home through a pipe in the ground, he reckoned I was being unhelpful, so I saved him any more anguish and replaced the hand set.
Why do these companies employ people trying to sell something we already buy from them, does not make sense. Bring back the candles!!

This free phone number keeps calling me but does not leave a message

I did not ask this company to call me and they have pestered me twice in a week and it is only Tuesday

Incredibly annoying that when you phone to stop them calling, they demand your name & address instead of just the number. No doubt I'll started getting spammed through the mail now.

For those wondering where they your number from:
They use a credit reference agency to look at other telephone accounts at addresses that have stopped becoming BG customers. They got my number because I bought my first mobile while at my Mum's. She moved & now I get cold-called by BG asking to speak to her, even though I live in a different part of the country and have a different surname. People like that should be lined up against a wall and shot.

I should have mentioned - 28 days to get my number of their call list? In this day and age? Just shows how outdated they are.

i have changed my supplier to scottish power and bg rang me at 11-35 last night and guess what no one on the end of the phone ,

received call, was busy, so did not reply, no message left, going to assume that this is spam
