Well I have been getting calls from this number daily for the past 3 days now. The best thing to do is report it to your operator who can then block that number from calling you.

4 days was enough. I called back at my own expense and was given the following number:
0800 952 4871
Confirm your phone number by pressing 1 and then you'll be removed from their list (for this year?). 40 seconds later and I'm done. I guess I'll have to wait and see if it has worked.

I had a number of calls from them to my mobile, all of which were silent, except the last yesterday 17/1/08. I pointed out to the caller that making such (silent) calls constitutes a nuisance under telecoms legislation and thus is a criminal offence. I 'required' her to ensure that I received no further such calls.

Giving your number to a company in order that they can call you does not give them the right to make nuisance calls to you.

I have been getting calls from this number for the last week or so, always silent. I have gone straight for the Ofcom complaints procedure to get the company stopped, rather than just get me off their list. With luck they may also be prosecuted.

Getting silent calls twice a day from 08009524851 for about a week now. I tried calling More than to find out how I can put a stop to this. The operator informed me that I have to write a letter before they can do anything about this, I didn't agree and wanted to talk with a supervisor but she didn't agree with my request and hung up! Great customer service.
They called me over a dosen times so far so it is only fair for me to call them back over dosen times on their free phone line 0800 072 4186 and complain. If everyone does the same thing they might have a rethink about how to go about calling people!

I called ‘More then’ at least a dozen times since the 18th of Jan trying to talk with a manager or supervisor with no joy which make me think they either very important to talk with ordinary people like me, too shy or don't even exist. However today I had another call from 'More then' but this time there was someone on the line trying to sell me home insurance. So calmly asked for his full name and wrote it down (had to get him to spell it as he was calling from Far East), then I lost my cool, told him I had ‘More then’ enough from their silent calls, threaten them with complains to Ofcom, watch dog and any other organization that I think off.
Eventually when I ran out of breath he promised I will get no more calls from them. We'll see......

I was recieveing daily calls from this number so i registerd my details at 08009524871 to request they stop.  This just made them call twice a day! I called and logged another request to stop them calling, but it still didnt stop

I called More Than via the general enquiries number on their website to register a complaint about the matter.  Spoke to someone who said he would email a request to stop but acted like he couldn't care less.  I advised this wasn't good enough and to transfer me to a manager so I could log a complaint.  I ended up speaking with a girl (who was a million times more helpful) who told me they have had several complaints as the calls come from an outsourced marketing company, and More Than are looking into this.  She was going to go directly to this company to stop them calling me.  Hopefully this is the end of it - but my advise would be to take this up with More Than, the more compalints they get the more they will have to pay attention!!!!  And don't accept poor service from the first eejit who answers the phone - make sure it is referred to someone higher

Perhaps someone should send this website address to 'more than' head office or even better the CEO? - in fact i think i'll do that right now!... you have to laugh, the 'contact us' part of their website is'nt working!!!! Doh - i wonder why?
I wouldn't mind these ****** call quite so much if they were a potentially good car insurance company but they won't even quote for my Lotus!!!

'More than' part of Royal & Sun Alliance - sent them a 'voting with feet' email, suggested they wake up to public disapproval  re: these mob calls. I think we should all do the same:

Investigated a more than insurance policy - must be the reason why now they are calling me non stop.  Never at a sensible time that I might at least be able to pick up the phone and tell them to go away, and they never leave a message either.  Very Frustrating!

i to have had a number of silent / dead calls from this number after i requested a quote online with More Than, (and yes i have had MORE THAN enough of the silent calls, i went to the ofcom site and found the below FAQ regarding silent calls. hope it helps explain why you are getting them.

. What are silent calls?
The term ‘silent call’ is a generic description for all those types of telephone call where the person called experiences silence on the line when they answer the telephone and has no means of establishing whether anyone is at the other end. There are a number of circumstances which give rise to silent calls.

"Most silent calls are not generated with malicious intent but are caused by automated calling systems such as predictive or power diallers used by call centres for telemarketing, market research, debt collection and other purposes.

The diallers are programmed to generate and attempt to connect calls. If there are not enough call centre agents available to handle a call it is abandoned if the call is answered by a live individual. These abandoned calls can cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety.

Another source of silent calls is where a fax is distributed to a voice phone line. If the person called answers such a call they are likely to hear the high-pitched tones of the fax ‘handshake’ protocol.

The most serious are silent calls made with a malicious intent to deliberately frighten or annoy the person called. In such cases, the caller may be guilty of a criminal offence under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003."

i will be sending a letter / email to watch dog if this continues and then ill also report them to ofcom.

good luck all
