- PamelaI've just recieved a very strange call from an Asian man called "Steve" who knew my name. He said he was from BTs technical department and that they had recieved a signal to say my computer had a virus and was running slow and he could fix it,(which it isn't!!) I was immediatley suspicious as I don't have Broadband with BT. I asked him for a number to ring which he gave me as 0800 111 4567. I said I would check with BT first and he put the phone down. I rang the number and it is indeed BTs technical dept. I spoke to a scootish lady who confirmed I don't have Broadband with them, but who couldn't shed any light on who was ringing me? Why would BT ring me about a non existing fault ? would someone give me that number so it would appear genuine and I'd go ahead without checking? when I pressed 1471 it was witheld number. It really "Ps" me off that people are forever trying to scam you. Has anyone else had this?

- GGI have two lots of calls from this number, from a very persistent man who says he is calling from Microsoft Help PC On Line.
He insists that he works on behalf of BT, TalkTalk and others to help speed communication problems with the internet.
08009770035 shouldn't BT be ablle to stop this as this does not help their
reputation and don't they give out the 0800 numbers??- Caller: Microsoft Help PC On Line

- JonesyI'm now on call number 6!!
They called on behalf of my internet service provider who had reported the fault on my behalf, (but couldn't tell me who my provider was), then they were microsoft ( really ?!?), a company working on behlaf of talk talk, Bt etc, and now PC helponline! They get a bit annoyed when you question the reasons for their call , who exactly they work for and the name of the person who reported the fault on my perfectly running PC, apparently tired of the abuse and not being able to perform properly the PC contacted them directly this time!
This evenings caller , Ronnie , although , Kevin and Steve have also called previoulsy , has promised to take me off their list of people who they can call - but then Kevin did promise that they would never offer to help me again! (what will I do?) But that was call 3..........
They also gave me 02033180526 as a number to call to complain.
Unless you have half an hour to kill , probably best just to hang up !- Caller: PChelponline

- hattersYes, just had my second.....do not go on the web site and open computer. I assume they will infect the computer and you have to pay to clear it. ( so they say will never be clean after)....plus they will have your bank details to sell on to the criminals........They obtain your details when you have purchased on line ( name , address, phone number ect from the company or corrupt worker)....have you recently purchased some thing that comes from Hong Kong/ China?
When they call have some fun with them......say you are hard of hearing, and keep asking to repeat ect. or as i did inform them my english was not very good...they will soon put the phone down
Importent that you do not go on the website, give your bank details and any other information they dont have- Caller: Helppconline Ltd

His name was Haydn George and he had a very strong Indian accent He said that my computer was running slow (which it is!!!) and he wanted to help. He told me to type in some website (can't remember exactly) and then click to download the free icon!! When I clicked on the download button my AVG anti-virus popped up saying TROJAN!!! - Tom replies to Retroboy19I have a number of calls from this company from different people and when we try to contact the numbers they have given us the numbers do not exist.
I obtained an address: helppconline, 3 Midhunt Close, Ilfield, West sussex, RH110BS and hey presto when I attempted to get directions through google maps they could not identify the address. Got a phone number 0203 026 3247 and surprise, surprise the number is disconnected or cannot be recognised.
The second to last caller onformed me that he was phoning from Germany, and as I am writing this I recieved another call this time from a woman.
It would appear that this company is on a scam mission and no one should give them their details or allow them access to their computer. - dfkdshfkdsh replies to adieHey I got the same call today. However I think its just a company that isnt fully etablished. It is deffinetly not from the UK. All the people have an indian accent as most call centres, but an indian person can have an english name. There are indians that are christian....
I don't think anyone should trust this company as it seemed like there were some loop holes in their offers and they were not giving the right answer for my questions...clearly didn't have an answer to my questions so he just changed the topic lol - sukiive just had a cold caller form helppconline, they have rang about three times, this time i nearly fell for it when they when through my laptops event logs. However, when i said i thought it was a scam and i didnt believe as my isp hadnt called me regarding problems with my laptop. He laughed and said i reassure you mam we have a website, a number etc. I said i wanted to make sure from my isp, and i called my isp and they didnt have a clue about the calls. So do not fall for it, its a scam.

- Dave FraserCall from helppconline and trying to get me to sign up for there dervice and download the remote assistance program. I strung him along for a while and gave him some dubious details and told him I just bought the credit card from a friend. Didn't seem to phase him he was busy keeping me talking while trying to validate the card.

- SuePhone call from Indian accent lady - couldn't make out her name. Caller display showed 'unavailable'. but she gave me this number 0800 977 0035. She said that she was calling in reply to my sending a error report to microsoft - which I hadn't. Appartently my computer was losing all it's systems and would not be able to work at all in 2 hours and she would be able to help stop this happening. Luckily I searched this number whilst stalling her and came across this website.

- cautiousIndian-accented man phoned from 06545654512 claiming that my ISP had reported issues with my laptop (actually I have a desktop). He couldn't say which ISP, but apparently they all report issues to helppconline. He got me to run eventvwr and claimed that the number of events proved that 40% of my system was damaged. He then got me to visit helppconline.co.uk and highlighted the site's claim of 94% customer satisfaction. I thanked him for pointing me in the right direction and ended the call (something he was not happy with), Then I googled them and arrived at this thread. I'm not suggesting that their service is a con, but it might be, and I certainly don't believe that my ISP reported issues to them.

- LadyMReceived a call on Saturday 7th May from Asian speaking lady from Helppconline Ltd., 08009770035 (0203 0206 3247) stating my computer was full of viruses. They could get rid of them if I paid a full years money up front. Refused to give them my bank details and they said I could send cheque in sum of £79.99 to Jessica Smith, Office No 4, Sanctuary House, Rear Ground Floor, 100 London Road, Leicester LE2 0QS. Rather foolishly I went through the process of going into my computer etc., but then relised that this was a possible scam. Her Manager came onto the phone, forgotten his name and he repeated the same message as the lady? Nearly fell for this one, but saying that I do not give out my bank details to cold callers.

- RichieHad a call today from Help PC Online Limited. Started with the usual drivel asking 'is your computer running slow etc.' .... I laughed and said that it was and I would be able to keep 'David' (Indian or more likely Pakistani accent) on the line for half-an-hour without buying anything. He went through everything and I asked questions - he gave me a post code of LE20 QS. I said it wasn't a valid code (it should have been LE2 0QS). He was keen to provide me with all their contact details but I explained that was meaningless - I would not give any information out to a cold caller. I stretched him out to about 18 minutes (I was checking e-mails and doing other things whilst he babbled away) and he started getting a bit irrate before hanging up. Damn! Didn't get him to waste half and hour of his life!! If anyone is worried about their information being taken during the process, do a 'system restore' and set it the day before you've received the call. That should help clear things.
