I have also been receiving a number of calls from this number at different times over the last few days.  I answered once and he said he was from BT, but was suspicious as he asked for me by name but called me Mrs instead of Miss.  I just replied that Mrs ---- was not in and could I take a message.  Now I just let the phone ring out and check the number.  In the past I have said that I am not interested but it doesn't seem to deter them.  I use the landline for broadband connection but seriously considering getting a dongle and getting rid of phone!

They've called me several times this week whilst I was out.  And three times so far today (a Sunday)! Having checked this site and knowing it was BT, I ignored the calls.  I agree with one of the other posts that this is really bad PR by BT.  I am quite happy with their phone service, but if I wanted their broadband I would contact them. If they keep bugging me I shall be tempted to sitch phone suppliers.

Young Asian lad claimed to be from BT and went on about free weekend calls and finished up with line about staying with BT for 12 months. I was half asleep from napping so went along with his comments. Not sure what outcome will be. He gave the standard line about calls being recorded for data protection etc. Well I'll have to wait and see.
Just rang the number and recorded message says they had rang on behalf of BT but did not give their own name.Number to call to be removed from their list (possibly) 0800 028 2272!

This number called today gave part a/phone message that just said "0282272" but 1471 gave number as 08009 889546. Called it back and recorded male voice just said "we called you today on behalf of BT"

Guess I'll check the bill to see how much the call back cost me for 5 seconds.

I received 2 calls from this number yesterday 08009889546. The second time I answered and the woman at the other end started giving me details about my telephone account,but didn't name a company. When I asked which company she was from, she said BT, British Telecom. I asked her how I knew she was from that company and she said she had mey name, phone number, address and account number in front of her. I told her I was not giving any information to her and hung up. I then emailed BT to check if this call was from them and I recieved a call today to tell me the call was not from them, it was a scam.

they said they were from bt and had account holders name and btbroadband package details that we are on.
would not give a return number to call but 1471 gave me 08009889546.
BT said that any call from bt would reveal itself as a bt call when 1471 is dialled.
this is not bt just another company trying to take cash.

This number calls us about 4 times a day and it's becoming a pain

Rickwood - ditto. I'll be putting in a call to BT the Abuse centre tomorrow (office hours, go figure!). I'm a night worker, and have had to unplug the landline to keep from being woken up multiple times a day - they're calling on bleeding SUNDAYS now. Way way waaaaaay unacceptable.

Keep getting calls from this number and don't answer. Answered it today out of curiosity and they said they were from BT & would reduce my broadband charges if I stayed with BT for another 12 months. Thanks to the comments on this page told them I wasn't interested. After telling them NO repeatedly they said they would call back next week to see if I had changed my mind. NO WAY.

I've had numerous calls from these muppets over the past two weeks, just like everyone on this forum. I answered their call today and to my surprise, spoke to someone, an asian woman. I told her that I had earlier complained to BT about their harasment. I also told her that I would be complaining to ofcom and, that I would be advising everyone in all the forums I could find on google to complain to ofcom. I told her that if ofcom had enough complaints, they would take action and the resulting fine would probably mean job losses, maybe hers. So, if you are all fed-up about the constant nuisance calls, complain to ofcom in your droves and hope for a fine in the £millions.

Apparently it a BT products and services number.

As an ex-BT broadband customer they were trying to entice me back. When I say "they" I don't mean BT as such. It's one of several retail outlets that are authorised to sell products and services on behalf of BT.

However, I suspect that they must have got my details from BT in the first place.

I too am getting regular calls from this number on a regular basis, normally in the evening up to three times from 6.15pm up to 9.45pm three times in all. Who is it as it becoming a nuisance.

Called today, said it was BT would I be interested in Broadband for laptop!

Three calls over the weekend while I was a way, and one zero-length answerohone message. Called the number back, got this: "it may be possible to remove yourself from our calling lists - wtf?!" I'm on TPS AND SCG lists already. How DARE they?!

these people have been calling me for weeks, (I leave my ansafone to screen my calls) i finally answered as i was expecting a personal call, they claim to be CCA INTERNATIONAL??? but working on behalf of BT??  BUL****T!!! could not give me a number to verify who they were, were not english, his name was OLU, couldn`t speak very good english!! had to get him to spell everything!! am about to cancel broadband with BT after 18 months of grief. My kids have got mobiles and internet access so no need to use land line phone anymore!!!

PS... Answer the phone and ask THEM questions!!! It really confuses them ... lol ... good luck all x

This twat rang me about 17.30 this afternoon. Said he was from BT. I said I didn't buy things over the phone or give out any of my personal information.
From reading the write ups on this forum it appears to be a company acting on behalf of BT. If I get called again I will definitely send off a letter to OFCOM.

I get 2 or 3 calls from 08009889546 every day, they know I have a answering machine as they always hang up on the sixth ring just before the machine takes the call. That is beacause it costs them money once there call is answered. They never leave a message.
