I received a call today (10/3/08) saying that I had a won a prize following the completion of a survey I had done. I was told that unfortuneately it was not the first prize of £10,000 but indeed a holiday for 4 - all expenses paid. I was given the number in order to claim.
Steve Pott - 10 Mar 2008

DID NOT CALL no one gives you anything for nothing

A "gentleman" called at the house and said he was collecting information about a new holiday company and that for each questionnaire completed a local youth club would benefit financially.  A week later my wife was called and told she had won a holiday if she called 0800 988 9904, even though the prize draw was due to be a week later.  We have not bothered to phone and definitely will not after reading about other peoples experience.  Thanks for the warning.

Same as most of the stories above. Caller from GVC - survey taken 18 months ago, and holiday for 4. I needed to call the 0800 number - for a moment, even I started to wonder if I was wrong about there being no such thing as a free holiday. BUT then, I googled the number and was proven right :D There is NO such thing as a free holiday!

Just had a very fast talking indian lady on - same sketch - Club le Costa etc....

OK - it will take time to go collectthe tickets - you'll have to listen to a hard sell etc etc ..BUT if the end result is a free holiday - is it really a scam - or just clever marketing ??

Got call from Christina, I was told to phone 0800 988 9904(as per everyone else by the looks of it) quoting ref number to claim free holiday(mmm?). I phoned and provisionally booked to go to Leeds exhibition because I wanted to check this out,it seemed too good to be true. I had confirmation of invite through the post today. Needless to say we will not be attending after checking the telephone number and web sites which led me to all your comments.  "You don't get anything for nothing in this life".  Thanks :)

I've had calls from this number too since Monday.  Spoke to him on Monday, he sent me a text to phone this 0800 number and a code to quote for my "free holiday"!  Wasn't convinced about it at the time and since then have had 5 phone calls back, 1 of which I answered saying had I phoned yet?!

Argh hope it doesn't take long for them to get the point that I'm not interested!

Just had a call from 01268 557 600, thanking me for participating in a survey a few months ago (I *didn't*), checking that my partner and I are homeowners with a minimum £25k income, and telling me to ring 0800 988 9904 to claim my break in Spain, UK, etc...  "You have to ring the number RIGHT NOW, because there's a time limit on this offer"... "No, it's nothing to do with timeshare"

We'd been to one of their presentations a few years ago. Incredibly pushy salesmen, despite promises to the contrary, and once you got to the bottom of the spiel, the holiday "points" you are supposed to buy are virtually useless if you want to holiday at your choice of resort, particularly during the school holidays.  (The salesman at the presentation eventually admitted as much, after hearing that my partner works for a major international law firm!)

When we tried to leave, the "senior client representative" started his patter, reducing the price of the points packages to 40% of the advertised price, and offering to throw in another 10% of bouns points. (Shows you the true worth of the packages if they can afford to do that!) His attempts to sell us holiday points (ANY holiday points, no matter how few - he offered us a "special deal" on a number of points that would get us one week's basic holiday each year) only stopped when my partner feigned tears and said she couldn't take any more of this pressure - not so soon after being made redundant... (Classic!)

So, fast forward to Apr '08, and I tell the girl calling me that we've already been to a presentationm and we're not interested in anything Club La Costa has to offer. "Oh, this isn't Club La Costa, sir - we're CLC Hotels and Resorts!" (Can't help but wonder what the CLC bit stands for, in that case...)

Having attended the presentation, you would have to attend a further presentation if you choose to take the offered holiday - you don't get anything for free, after all. I know the points purchased are available for use each year, but the number of resorts seemed limited...

Summing up, if you're happy to go "wherever, whenever", the points may be of use, but if, like me, you have a family, there's nowehere near enough availability during school holidays, and the money is better spent on last minute deals or package holidays. What we would have spent with CLC continues to fund regular trips to Egypt - we're all getting ready for our second visit to Sharm El Sheikh, Cairo and Jordan in the past 8 months :-)

I am going through with the holiday and as they said i actually didnt need to buy or join anything at all and im taking my holiday next month, it is true i attended the exhibition in haydock a few months ago and obviously its a bit annoying travveling but 2 hours in a room with free food and drink. is definatly worth 7 days in the sun, i may complete a survey every year! honestly though yu may not want to go but once yu have seen whats offered and yur brochures yu wont turn them down!

I was called by a female with an oriental accent this morning 16/04/08 claiming that I had won a Holiday. I was given a claim reference number and asked to phone 0800 988 9904 to claim my prize of a holiday to about 4 different destinations, which included Spain and Tenerife.

I believe this is bogus as I believe you do not get anything for nothing.

Regards

Mr C. Thomas

I just recieved a call saying i'd won a holiday to a European destination i.e Portugal/Spain/Canary Islands(flights and accomodation 7 nights) , I called 08009889904 and they said come to an appointment a bluewater to collect flight information etc and show identification (they will send me a letter to confirm that i'v won & appointment time). Apparantly all I have to pay is £29.50 per person booking fee. I am a sceptical person, but this sounded pretty straight forward. I'm guessing it is a ploy to get you to sign up to a time share but I don't mind sitting through a sales pitch if I get a week in Spain for £30!! (You can always say "no, not interested" -right?! - no obligation etc?!) Has anyone actually gone through with this? I'll let you know what happens after my appointment.

Oh yes i too today got the shock of my life, i won another holiday from the caller number 01628557600, and told to ring 08009889904. Yes we did fill in a questionair in Faro airport, when your being hassled to answer questions its sometimes the easy option to do it rather than explaining why you dont want to.Google is a wonderfull tool to use. Its a pity that when a caller rings you and lies they dont get an electric shock. H2W7

I got a call this morning  exactly the same as everyone elses. I was told I had won a free holiday for four including flights and 1 weeks accomodation anywhere in Spain Teneriefe, Portugal or UK Mainland. ANd that children under 2 go free. Also that I would have to pay £29 booking fee in UK or £64 overseas - Enter as quickly as possible and you could win £50 Argos vouchers.
I'm like you all - sceptical and thought about ringing but checked on here first. They do have a website though so wasn't sure until I found this site.

Recieved a call from the 01268 557 600 today, informing me that I filled out a survey, which I could not recall doing, and my survey was choosen to recieve a free holiday for two in either Spain or Portugal or if I wanted to stay in the UK York.  In order for me to claim the prize I would have to contact 0800 988 9904 urgently.  I knew it was a scam but for peace of mind, not wanting to lose out on a holiday, i google the two telephone number and this is when i stumbled on this website! Thank god!!!!
