I've had these calling me each day, google posts state it's a scammers number, just discovered my phone can block numbers so added this number to my list, jobs a good un.
I just has a call from this number. it was a guy saying he was calling from Vodafone offering a free upgrade. I said i had spoken to vodafone just 4weeks before and they told me a wasn't elligable untill Feb but he just said 'well now you are' told me not to go instore or call vodafone myself as the better offers come from them calling me! MUST BE A SCAM!
I had two missed calls from 08080000144. I thought it might be something important and so googled the number and found this warning about the number be a scam. Thank you!
Had a series of calls from this number, which I have ignored. Finally answered one today. Conversation (roughly) Me - "hello" girl - "this is vodafone calling about your account" Me - "Oh Yes - what about" She - "About your upgrade - can I confirm a few details?" Me - "OK, briefly - didn't know I was due an upgrade yet" (actually due next Feb) She - "I can call back..." Me - "No, go ahead" She - "Can I have your full name" Me - "What name have you got against this 'phone?" She - "Can't tell you that - it's data protection...can tell you what your last handset was though" Me - "Where did you get information from?" She - "We're Vodafone upgrade department" Me - "I don't think you are - don't call again and take me off your database" end of call I confirmed with Vodafone (as a direct customer) that they had no record of such a call to me; and that their greeting to discuss potential upgrades would be "Hello Mr ..." and then go on to confirm my details. So these guys def not genuine Vodafone!
I was called by the same number. I missed one call, and they left no message. I checked the number on the web and it up as a dodgy scam number. I told the lady this when they called again and she asked for my name. She said it was not a scam, and was calling from Vodafone, and could not confirm my name for 'security reasons', but she could tell me what handset I had. I advised her that I wasn't satisfied that the call was genuine, and that if she really did work for Vodafone she should write to me, anf hung up. No calls since.
I can only conclude thay have got hold of a list of handsets and numbers from somewhere, and are trying to get hod of names so that a fraud of some sort may be comitted. Surely Ofcom or someone can close these crooks down?
Been getting daily calls from thses guys. Spoke to them today and said I was from the Vodafone Fraud Squad! He said his name was Adele Khan and offered me insurance for a PAYT phone (if i did work for Vodafone I doubt i'd be on PAYT).
Had a call from them today, was also suspicious so didn't provide any details. They were able to correctly identify my last handset though. I asked if I could call back and they said that I would not get through to them via customer services on 191 because they are the upgrades dept....? lol
Part of me think they are a legit firm (albeit, scumbag sales people) that Voda have contracted out some work to (commission on contract renewals?), but I'm still undecided.
I just had a phone call from these people, I did not answer, and just googled the number. It is a bit weird as I am actually on Pay as you talk...so I wouldnt actually be able to have an upgrade. Thank you to every one im glad I checked it out before I answered and now know not to answer it.
Same as many of you, Ive been receiving missed calls on a daily basis for over a week from this number. Im also on vodafone. I do remember answering a call from 'vodafone' a couple of weeks ago telling me I was due for upgrade, just 2 weeks AFTER I upgraded, which I thought was a bit funny, but can't remember the number. May have been this one. Having had many more missed calls I was gonna call it back but thought id google it on the off-chance first - and i'm glad I did!
they've calling at least once a day for the past week or so. Of course I'm not even remotely considering answering. Thanks f for internet and search engines.
I signed up with Vodafone on the weekend and just missed a call from that number. I'll answer next time they call as there is no way I am ready for an upgrade (customer for 2 days now).
If it is a scam I'll be pissed they Vodafone released my number because when I signed up I opted out of having my number listed.
Had the same call from this number. Rang multiple times over a few days before I picked up. Asked for me to confirm my details. Asked what details they had for me and he said he couldn't give out the info for data protection reasons. I said that if they wanted to sell me something it would be in their interest to have my details before I committed. Thing that got me was that they had details of my handset which I got from a friend which wasn't provided by Vodafone. Haven't heard from them since.
I just got a phone off these people and am a Vodafone customer. I didnt answer! I am glad now after finding this page! I added them to my reject list so they cant phone me again.
