Claimed to be from Microsoft at first to my son in the afternoon, They called back at night, this is when i got their number. Man with Indian accent calling himself Jack Gordon from PC Wizards this time. He claimed my computer had a virus and got our son to change some setting in the computer. I have done a full system restore to factory settings. Annoying. :(

The same happened to my mother in law today. She was told her PC was infected with a virus and she needed allow him access to install software to eliminate the problem. Claimed to be working for Microsoft. Same phone number and quoted www.onlinepcwizards.com as a reference. It's the second call she's had from this Indian guy. It's been reported that this scam downloads viral software that accesses your personal details.
Luckily she contacted me I and instructed her to be very rude when he next calls.

Just got a call from 08082801527  it was an indian guy speaking with me not very clear to understand.  He said i had a problem with my computer windows system and that it was not working correctly but that he could show me the problems and fix them at a cost.  The Price was not mentioned to me as I was quite stern and somewhat rude to him and ask him for a telephone number of the company and also if he could call me back tommorow night.  He tried to get me to open something on the computer which i refused.  Is there anyway to stop these *******.

I am getting writers cramp trying to keep up with the new numbers this lot use.  The scam was highlighted on "You've been Scammed", BBC1 21st November.  These people will install spyware/malware on the computer if given remote access.  Any money they ask for seems to be a diversion to hide what they are really doing.  On the same programme the Director of Security for Microsoft stated that neither they, nor their partners, would ever cold call you.  It would be a breach of their privacy rules.  Please tell as many people as possible to help end this scam.
Must admit that my favourite trick is to laugh at them and when they say they are Steve, or Alec or Sheila, to say Good Morning, my name is Mahendra Singh Doni or Sachin Tendulkar! They tend to hang upo.

I just got a similar call from a person called Jing from PC Optimisers. It came from a withheld number.

    - Jing claimed his company were supporting my Windows PC, they are not.
    - Jing couldn't tell me anything about my PC, make, model, memory
    - Despite the above, Jing said my machine was infected and he needed to install some software.

I told him I was aware this was a scam and he put the phone down on me immediately.

    I'm based in the UK.

Had a similar call months ago, was suspicious, said I wasn't interested. Then another call today from an Indian woman who I struggled to understand. Sorry I don't have the phone number.  Told her I certainly wasn't going to access what she was telling me to do on my computer as I didn't know who she was. Asked for her business website amd was given   www.onlinepcwizards.com
Said to her I would rely on my computer guy to fix any problems, and my computer has just been thoroughly checked following a minor problem,    She asked me if I could trust him thoroughly??????? and she told me these particular problems wouldn't show up
Said to her this must cost something, was told no it didn't. Told her then how odd, must be very generous to make all these phonecalls and do this for nothing!!!!!! It seemed to be a scam to me,and reading the above comments am so glad I didn't fall for it

I had a call today, I asked which computer and he said all of them! I listened to the usual 'you have a problem, you need to turn on your computer we can sort it out in 2 easy steps etc.... I have previously been warned about this scam as a friend of mine was harassed last year.
I told him that I would rather wait until my husband came back from his job as a fraud investigator and told him that my husband said I must never answer calls like this. Even saying that didn't deterr him. He kept on and on. In the end I asked for his phone number which he eventually gave me 08082801527 and said that the company was called BC ouzert. His name.....Sam Sweet. The office is not open on Saturdays or Sundays but I must phone back first thing Monday morning!

I've been getting these calls on an almost daily basis - today's from "PC Optimisers" with the following number 01234 765093 - when you ring back, the number doesn't exist.

It's driving me nuts - I've been polite, I've been exceedingly rude, and it doesn't make a difference.

Any clues on how to stop them?  I'm registered with the telephone preference service, but of course, scammers wouldn't give a toss about that!!!!

Received a call this afternoon from a guy with an Indian accent called "Jason Williams" from "PC Research" based in Greater London (yeah right!!).  He claimed there had been an urgent alert from their server that there was malicious software affecting PCs in my postal area.  Having had a similar scam call in the past, I thought i'd play them at their own game, so after many interrogative questions to the so called Mr Williams, I simply told him that I worked for a "Government agency" and that I would verify his details and get back to him in due course.  After a long silence and me saying "Hello?....hello?", I realised I may have frightened him off! ha! ha! ;-)
