I received an SMS telling me I had won R450 000 in a Nokia free worldwide lottery and asking me to call this number to claim it - a Mr David Yost. Before calling, I did a google search on the name and nokia to confirm it was a scam, and found this site: therefore this comment. What happens if someone DOES call the number, anyone know?

i think we should all get together and teach this super idiot a lesson, by the way has anyone tried calling the number this text was actually sent from  082 6731307  ??   i also received the same mail but also ignored it and checked the website, maybe Vodacom should block this number and see who rica"d this number and post it on the net so that we can all go and f@&k this guy up .....what an absolute [***]

Got this message this morning at 03:36 : "CONGRATULATIONS! Your cell phone number has won R450,000.00 in NOKIA WORLDWIDE FREE LOTTERY. Ref no:sA/PO8N. Call claims department. Mr. David Yost 0839664097." This message is clearly a hoax as if they had my number they would have called themselves rather than ask anyone to call them. The message originated from the number +27826731307 and not the number stated in the message. Maybe all those who has received the message should confirm as to it's origins and we can then find out who is sending such idiotic messages and stop them from whatever shady activity they are up to.

I received the same message re winning R450 000. Some one is going to slip up an fall for this scam. With techniques available to trace the origin of cell phone calls I am stunned that the culprit has not been brought to book,seeing that this has been going on for some time.

I called the number it says the mail box is full. Vocacom must block this number please. Mr Yost is also not available. This really sucks. Nokia must make an effort to block this number for it's reputation if it's only on the Nikia phones. I do not want to get these messages just because i bought a Nokia.

I got the exact same message, but via SMS on 9 April at 2:49am.

0826731307 This number is distributing the Nokia Worldwide scam mail. How on earth do these people get access to my phone number? where is my privacy???????

We phoned this number this morning and a lady answered telling us we can either phone her with our banking details so they can deposit the cheque or we can come collect the cheque. She said that their offices are located in Cape Town???? Not sure what to do.....

Did you give them your banking detail or did you collect a cheque from them. Those were the two options they gave us?
