    The call came in from 08453007027, but asked me to call this number. The message on the answering machine said "Please call Barclaycard on 08445560055." No other information given, and no mention of who they wanted to get in touch with. I'm not a Barclays customer so I have no idea why thy would be phoning me. Bloody nuisance.

    2 voicemails this week on my work phone telling me to call 0844 5560055.  I rang it back and the recorded message welcomed me to Barclaycard's new automated system.  It then asked me to enter my 16 digit card number.  I don't have a Barclaycard.

    I had a call from someone claiming to be from barclay card, asking for my debit card details for a payment I've missed..the chap was unable to hold a coversation. lol whatever.

    08445560055 (this one sounds exactly like the barclay recording but its not)

    There is only one number for barclay ard.

    Yes, I have got the same problem. The same message as above, regularly left on my answer phone. Three times this week (twice today), following on a similar run of calls a few weeks ago then a few weeks peace. I've had "silent" message left too, which take the form of  call centre background noises but no-one actually talking. I have no evidence that these silent calls are the same company though.

    I'm not a barlcaycard customer and I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service so I shouldn't be getting any cold calls
    mithered like this. I will see if TPS or OFTEL can do anything about it.

    Automated call asking me to call Barclaycard.  Called their normal contact number (I'm a customer of theirs) and found that it's some sort of markeing spiel - can't anybody stop these idiots wasting everybody's time?

    Just picked up same voicemessage saying to call 0844 5560055.  Called Barclays instead (I'm a customer) and they had no link to this number and no reference of needing to contact me.  I'm also not on any of their marketing lists.  The guy told me this number is likely to be a scam, where the fraudsters get you to input your bank details then merrily go off shopping on them.  DONT CALL IT.

    I also received the same message, and a text to call 0844 55600 58 and I don't even have a Barclaycard. After wasting a couple of hours of my own time it turns out that:

    Last year I cancelled a Morgan Stanley card (fully paid up and settled)

    Unbeknown to me, my card protection (CPP) was being paid from that card.

    Barclaycard took over Morgan Stanley

    And finally, the payment to CPP WAS TAKEN OFF A CLOSED ACCOUNT. This reinstated the card! Unbelieveable!

    So suddenly I have a live credit card with Barclaycard I knew nothing about.

    Be warned.... Just because you think you have closed a Credit Card (and I have the letter to confirm from Morgan Stanley) it seems they can open it back up anytime they like, and in this case, in the name of a completely different company!!!!!!

    We get about 5 - 10 of these calls a day at my company.

    Is it scam?

    We have redialled the number once but stopped when it requested the Barclaycard number.

    I get 2 or 3 of these calls per day, sometimes they hang up when I answer other times I get a person. I have explained I do not have a Barclaycard but the calls and messages keep on coming. I have trid to register with the TPS so will see if these calls stop. I have checked the barclaycard website and this number isnt listed on its contacts page

    Just the end of a message stating a phone number.......They are crafty getting US to phone THEM back.  Very strange and should be halted.... could be ANYONE ??!!

    sick and tired of this number 08445560055, keeps leaving me an answerphone message to call barclaycard. It is not barclaycard but barclaycard dont seem concerned that they are using their name.

    08453007027 - I am recieving at least two calls a day from this number.  I answered yesterday, she said I was behind with payments which I am not.  She also had my old address.  I have informed Barclaycard that I have moved and they send statements to my new address - I do not believe it is Barclaycard and asked to be removed from mailing list.  This morning I received another call.  Will just ignore from now on

    We have been bombarded with calls. I called back the above number and entered a false card number and then got put through to an operator. I asked his full name and asked where he was calling from. It was India and he was determind to get my card details. I said that I was aware it was a scam and that he should be ashamed of what he was doing. I asked him to look up watchdog on the internet and that if we received another call I would be writing to Watchdog and reporting them. He laughed and hung up. Hopefully (but I suspect not), that this is the last we hear.

    ...further to Annie's rant - the calls have not stopped. Maybe a good idea is to keep them on the line for as long as possible giving false numbers and generally messing them around. I have been getting daily calls for almost a month and at most inconvenient times, late and early. Either I change my number or have my phone on silent - either way - they win. Barclays need to do something about this now.

    This number calls me up to 8 or 9 times a day it is a nuisance they start from 8.30am right into the evening.  They call on a Sunday as well as a Bank Holiday.  I have told them to stop but they just don't.  I know I owe them money and I am paying what I can as well as written to them.  They do not reply to letters just constantly phone.
