I received the exact same Text on 4 Feb 09. Un-asked-for and unwanted. This is a Scam; in fact it's more then that, it's theft of £3 from my account! And,it would seem, repeated many times over. See Google result for 30010007. Don't phone 0844 etc as that will only cost you more, with no benefit. Complain to phonepayplus on freephone 0800 500212. Have the caller's number blocked to prevent further calls. Some have contacted BBC Watchdog. I may be wrong, but everyone seems to be on O2(?)

I have just had £12 added to my bill and rang up about it.  Was told i'd purchased 4 ring tones,  which i most certainly have not!  Vodafone was very nice about it and told me that they will deduct the charge from my bill and i have just rang up the offending number and spoke to someone who reckons they will stop the 'subscription'.  I am not paying for it and going to write a letter demanding the money back and threatening court action if they attempt to try it again!

The address i've been given is :  Customer Service Manager

had £12 added to my bill every month since I took out a contract with Vodafone, they just keep telling me it Mobileshop. I tell them never heard of then. Said you must be downloading stuff, so I told them I have never used the internet on the phone. they checked out with tech. who confirmed I had no internet traffic to my phone, but customer services just keep repeating it mobile shop. how can they charge me for something they no I have not had.

I got my mobile phone bill this morning and found that I had £15 Purchases on it. I phoned Vodafone asking about these purchases as I have never downloaded any ringtones, themes etc, games from anywhere. I have never even opened text messages from numbers I do not recongnize. Vodafone only gave me a phone number to contact saying it was a company called mobile shop - who are they?

My contract is only 4 months old (renewal), I have been with vodafone on contract for many years without any problems like this in the past. I am not impressed and have decided to cancel my DD and move to PAYT. By reading the above comments it doesn't seem like this is a easy company to get rid of and there could be not end to the charges on your monthly bill - this month was £15, next month it could be higher. I am not leaving thing to chance. This has put me right off mobile contracts. Even if Vodafone resolved this there is not telling what next scam will pop out of the wood works. At least with PAYT this is an element of controll with no unexpected nasty bills.

This has helped me get out of a contract as it would be much cheaper on PAYT using friends and family. I would rather buy my contract out if needed, that way this scam company wouldn't be able steal any more of my money in the future.

I've also had money "taken" from my Vodaphone account. In the space of 7 days I have had 3 x £3 taken from a company called "Mobile Shop". As others have already stated here, I have not requested this "service" or downloaded any content with my phone. I only realised I had been charged after receiving a text from FreeMSG a month later.

"FreeMSG: You are subscribed to Tonsite, unlimited content downloads for only £3.00 per week. Text stop to 87448 to unsubscribe. Care ? Call 08445796340"

I didn't call the number, as I thought it would be a premium line. However, I checked my bill online, and sure enough there was a £3 charge on the 20th, 23rd and 27th February ! (even if I had subscribed - how does that equate to £3 per week ?)

So I called Vodaphone, who were more than useless, and gave me a number to call, who took my name and number and told me to write a a PO Box to claim my money back !

I'll be calling Vodaphone again to stress my case, and cancel my contract if I have too.

This is a scam, and in my opinion theft - the amount of money is small, but it's the principle that someone can do this, and the fact that there seem to be no consumer protection that really annoys me.

How strange, having just read the previous comment about being charged 3 times in one week, I can confirm that I was charged exactly the same amounts on the same days, 20 Feb, 23 Feb and 27 Feb!  The first I knew about this "subscription" was the text message received on 15 Mar:-
"FreeMSG: You are subscribed to Tonsite, unlimited content downloads for only £3.00 per week. Text stop to 87448 to unsubscribe. Care ? Call 08445796340"
What an absolute con!  I phoned t-mobile who told me to call 08445796345, which I did and they told me they would get someone to call me back within 24 hours, but were unable to give me an alternative number to call "because they don't have one!".  They just offered me the address that's been mentioned in previous posts.

Only just started fighting for my money back today but will keep you posted....  I will have to make enquiries with the Police about this one if needed.  Although it's not legally a "theft", I am sure it must come under the Fraud Act, with me as the victim as T-Mobile don't seem to be forthcoming with offering me a refund!

I too have been stung on my PAYG T Mobile.
I was charge £1.50 x 4. The first ones being on 1st April and then another one today.
I only found out when I went online to check my remaining balance.
My phone call to and Indian Call centre got me no-where. I was told I had to request the funds back from the sender of the texts. Not blooming likely I thought. So sent a strongly worded email to T Mobile. I received a call back some thiry minutes later and to cut it short, I have been refunded.
There is a Gov petition you can sign asking for the phone companies to be made responsible to reclaiming fraudulent charges - not customers.

Have been charged £15 and am not happy.  Rang Vodafone and they gave me a number to ring which was useless!!  Have informed the Police and am determined to get my money back!  This is unbelievable and I think I will ring GMTV to hopefully alert other people to this scam, some people will not even be aware that they are being charged!!

Good idea to ring GMTV. It's about time this stealing money from people was widely publisised.
I've emailed my MP with links from several pages from the internet, with unfortunate scammed customers stories.

    Susan, who spelled 'Publicised' wrong.
Shame there isn't an 'edit' facility.
