Phoned number back and got message saying I was called by American Express and that I did not need to take any further action

I got a call from this number too, however when I picked up there was no one there. What is Amex doing?

I reckon this is a power dialler system and they are making marketing calls which they get paid for. However, they hang up as soon as you answer so they still get paid the commision for the call but do not have to speak to a person who tells them they d not want their services.

Same nuisance calls 2 days in a row. If it is indeed AMEX they ought to be reported.

Yep, I just got a call from this number too and they hung up on me.  If it is indeed AMEX, then I'm going to call them to complain.  I didn't phone them back just in case it's part of some big con.

I also have had previous calls from these, AMEX, over the last 18 months or so, all marketing calls, and this is the now the second in less than a week, so I have now reported them to the Telephone Preference Service. They are starting an investigation against AMEX about contacting me, as they are breaking the law because I registered NOT to recieve their calls. I have had at least 10 calls from this number in the last week. Most of the time there is nobody there. However twice, one of which was whilst typing this message, has been a recorded message that is so quiet you cannot hear it and the only bit I can make out is 'Sorry for any inconvenience'!!! Well it is inconvenient and irritating, so will be reporting them (whoever) to the relevant authorities.

yes am called & on answer; the caller terminates the connection.most irritating!!
did ring back & as many of you have already experienced -there is a very quiet answer message; which i am almost certain did not identify the originator.

This is frightful. Imagine if this was heppening to a pensioner? They'd go nuts. AMEX seems to be the likely culprit. Send you cards back - that'd teach 'em!

Can't believe they keep calling - 5 times this week.  When answered, they just hang up.  Yep, automated calling alright, can't wait to get hold of them, and give 'em a piece of my mind!

Have receied 5 missed calls from them over the past 2 days.  The one time I did manage to pick up they hung up immediately

It's defo Amex - had this 0845 number, referred to above, call a number of times along with a "Private" listed number. Just 10 mins ago the "private" number called and it was Amex - it's too coincidental. Would advise everyone to call the TPS,as advised above by someone else.

It definitely is AMEX, i did end up speaking to someone (Selling me some insurance on my credit card). And got a numebr to call to complain.

They have been calling me every day for a couple of days now.  Caller display is fab - I can just ignore it!!

Got a call a 19:41 last night.  Only rang once, but am not ringing back as it is costly from my mobile?
