Finally answere their call yesterday - wanted to offer me an upgrade!!!
Never gave them any info - told them if I wanted anything - I will call them.... never asked personal questions (i suppose they never got the chance to ask!!!)
Called from a call centre (background noise) and caller introduced himself as being from Vodafone, asked me to confirm date of birth - I refused and he said thanks, have a nice day and hung up.
had numerous calls from this company over the last three weeks, when i did eventually answer it, it was some lad trying to convince me he was calling from vodafone and offering me a fantastic deal on upgrade and new contract for my phone. i thought the deal was too good to be true but allowed him to carry on waffling, as per previous posts he knew far too many personal details without me even having to say anything for my liking. BEWARE - i later spoke to the real vodafone and sorted myself a good deal on a non hardware deal (a new thing they are doing), when i asked if they had ever heard of the number that has been phoning me they said no, and that vodafone never approach their customers via cold calling to offer upgrades etc - lesson learnt !!!!!!!!
only wish they had better things to do with their time.
They have been calling and calling without leaving a message. I finally answered today but line was dead / cut off. If they do manage to get through they will get nothing but abuse from me!
They've called me 9 times in the last week and I have not answered. I don't answer numbers that I don't recognise....and after reading some of the comments, I am glad I haven't.
Today at 15:45 I received a telephone call from 0845-2453200 but I missed it. No message was left for me on the answering machine. I am really please to have found this link with messages for vigilance. At least I know not to pass any personal details to them... Thank you!
They've called me twice so far, saying they are from Vodaphone and can give me an upgrade, even though I am not due one. Here is a response from Vodaphone Customer Services
"Thanks for your email to Vodafone about the call you've received from 0845 245 3200 on your phone. Let me assist you.
I can understand from your email that you've received a call from 0845 245 3200 number that offered you free upgrade even though you're not eligible for an upgrade and you wish to know whether the call was scam call or a legitimate call.
I've checked the phone number and can see that the above mentioned number is not from Vodafone and it is regulated by Ofcom. You may please ignore the call.
I trust I've provided you useful information about the phone call you've received regarding free upgrade on your phone account and if there is anything else I can help you with, please feel free to contact me. I'm here to help you always.
This number keeps calling me a couple of times a day. I have a feeling it might be Mecca Bingo!!! The same thing happened last year and it turned out to be them but I can't remember if the number is the same.
I've had half a dozen calls from this number all of which ended as I picked up....foolishly I answered with my name.. hopefully there'll be no comeback or security implications...having read the above think I'll block this one in future
