- D Gardner| 1 replyI had this number in an e-mail supposedly
from onlineservice@Halifax.co.uk The header and IP address show it as
mail4.halifax.co.uk - D SunderlandFound number on telephone bill
- BarryTelephone number is genuine and belongs to Bank of Scotland online helpdesk. If you have received it in an email, its okay to dial it.
If in doubt get another bank of scotland number from the phone book or internet and ask them to confirm the number first. - MickI've just received a letter re registering for the Halifax online service and it has this number on it. I haven't registered so if, as Barry says, this is a genuine number then I guess someone is trying to clone my ID. Nice.
- DazGenuine Halifax Bank of Scotland online number
- Caller: Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS)
- Terry JobsonI have just found that it cost me £2.00+ to call this number for 7 minutes so avoid it if at all possible
Terry - daveReceived this number today in an email, supposedly from Halifax. Phone number apprears genuine, although doubt the email is.
- TetleyJustv found this number on a recent phone bill and realised the call lasted for 25 minutes. Called the number briefly to check who it belonged to and was given no name of a company or Bank just given various optons. Selected one of the optons, still trying to find out who's number it was and was put on automatic hold. The only way I found out without it costing too much was to type the number into a google search which brought me to this site thankfully. Now I know who the call was to, although I dont remember calling it in the first place.

- ab| 1 replyI received a text alert from 08456020000 (claims to be from HALIFAX) telling me my banking phone numbers have changed. I do not have a bank account with Halifax or Bank of Scotland.
- Caller: HALIFAX
- Call type: Text message
- gordonJust had the same, and while I DO have an old Halifax account from a previous mortgage, they texted me on my work phone which I have certainly never registered with Halifax. Almost certainly not real.

- silent-buskerUnfortunately, our data is big business, so even if you haven't registered with the relevant banks, they have probably bought you details from a database that specialises in selling your information to these companies. If they call, just ask them where your information originates and then contact that company (preferably via a letter and keep copies) requesting the removal of your information from their source. If they are not willing to give you that information then they are not genuine.
Unfortunately, the selling of information is big business and the real problem is it is "opt out" not "opt in". In most cases it is a box somewhere in the small print, which is so long and full of legalese that we don't read it and end up missing that box. Until we can get the rule changed we will all still keep getting these calls. - Graham WoodingsMy recent phone bill says I phoned this number and talked for 10 mins but I never use my land line for outside calls let alone 0845 numbers it must be some sort of scam.
- lesGot a txt from HALIFAX saying my banking numbers have been changed, and to ring this number if I did not do this.dobt have a Halifax, ir bank of Scotland account.
- Caller: HALIFAX
- Call type: Text message
- TaylorAlso got a text from apparently authentic Halifax numbers claiming my internet banking numbers had been changed, though I don't have an account. Their fraud department needs to look into this, unless it is a barefaced attempt to get people to spend £5 hanging on an expensive 0845 call to find out there has been a 'mistake'.

- Old Mother RileyHBOS is the name that covers both Halifax and Bank of Scotland. It might be worth your having a conversation with HBOS Fraud Department on 01132 851 888 to see if they can ease your mind.
