Caller mentioned he was from UPI and mentioned that a court had ruled that bank charges on overdrafts were being reimbursed. Is this correct. He did not want bank details but did ask for how my name was displayed on a envelope.
Who or what exactly is this about, I could not understand the gentleman very well.

my wife received a call from this number on 11/June 09 from someone called Mr Pollard.He gave the same info and was asked the same questions as Mr Pegram but was also asked for the expiry date of her debit card. I made her put the phone down and told her to hang up any calls of this nature in future.

Got a call this afternoon (7-Jul-2009) from someone at an Indian call centre who claimed to be from UPI (UK) Ltd., a "law firm", and gave this as their contact number. Recited a big spiel about bank charges, then tried to get me to pay £49.99 for a "legal pack" that would let me claim them back. Smelled like a scam.

BEAWARE people if you get a call from UPI, I got a call this afternoon (8-Jul-2009) from someone at an Indian call centre who claimed to be from UPI (UK) Ltd., a "law firm", and gave this 08456041893 as their contact number. Recited a big spiel about bank charges, then tried to get me to pay £49.99 for a "legal pack" that would let me claim them back.This is a BIG SCAM going on in INDIA so pls dont give your credit card details to any one from UPI.

The call was a with held number. The person calling was called Shane Adams but sounded Asian! He said he was from UPI UK LTD, address: universal house, 213 new road, Skewen, South Wales, SA10 6EW. He wanted to send me a form out to fill in and send to my bank to claim all of my bank charges back. He asked for my name as it was written on my debit card. He already had my address which I have only lived there for a couple of months and it's not even a registered address yet. He gave me a number 0845 604 1893 which he said was there company number if I wanted to get back in touch with them.
