Got a text from it stating... "TO PREVENT RESTRICTION please call Vodafone on 08700 725625, to confirm your address, thank you".  All previous texting from Vodafone is from their own text centre so I think this is actually spam or a con.

What the hell is that? I've also got it twice. I even tried to call that number but there was no answer. That can't be good.

Heads up guys I have spoken with Vodafone and they said that this number is NOT theres.

I had a text from this number asking me to use a different number then the one I have to check how many minutes I have remaining on my account.  When I checked this information with a team leader from Vodafone about the new number to dial to check minutes he confirmed that would charge money to my account - so not to dial the number.

If Vodafone text you it will either say from Vodafone or from 191 (if your account is based in the UK)...

It is scary what people will try and do to get money...

Got a text saying 'dear customer, the insurance has been cancelled, thanks' The fact it was all in lower case and didn't say who it was from was suspicious.  Looking at these other comments it looks like its belongs to scammers.

Got a call from this number and then when I missed the call, a text that read as follows:

"We have been unable to contact you, with regard to upgrading your handset. Please call or text Becky on 07827312674 for further assistance. Thank you."

    The fact that, (1) I'm not due to upgrade; (2) They supplied a mobile number to call back on, or text! (3) They didn't state what supplier they're from;

tells me that this is dodgy.

Remember, don't give anyone any info unless they can give you some info first to prove that they actually have your details on file.

I keep getting texts off them saying that my Vodafone order has been placed for postal delivery via Royal Mail to a house number and postcode that isn't even remotely mine. Then the next morning they text me saying that my order has been delayed and should I have any further questions then I should contact them on 08700700191. Ten minutes later I get the text saying my order has been dispatched.

Thing is, I'm not a Vodafone customer, never have been, and neither is anyone else in our household. Since I just got an e-mail a couple of days ago asking me to confirm my PayPal order for a new Nokia phone (FireFox classified it as a phishing scam site so I just left it), then I'm a bit worried and tempted to call that number to see wth is going on. But looking at the comments here, I'm having second doubts.

Ive just called Vodafone from my handset on 191, when I finished speaking to them I got a text from 08700700191 to thank me for my call I then checked the number stumbled on this website (which had me confused and worried) and then checked Vodafone's own website and this number is their advertised number to call if your not calling from a Vodafone handset.

I'm pretty sure that this is a Vodafone number. They used it to cold call me whilst I was still one of their customers. Up to that point I'd been happy with Vodafone. Now I have O2.

Having just spoken to vodafone to sort out a couple of things on my account, I too received a text message entitled "2008" saying that my Vodafone order has been placed for postal delivery via Royal Mail to a house number and postcode that isn't even remotely mine.

I've not even ordered anything from them so I figured it was something dodgy....

Is this just to get us to phone/text so that "they" get money? Nice one.

    Got this spam message:

"From Vodafone: To ensure you have continued use of you phone, please can the account holder contact Vodafone 08700 779 779 before 10am tomorrow"

Checked my account online all is in order. This is a scam!

I just called to top-up but there was a problem with the procedure, so was transferred to the call centre automatically.  The problem was sorted and I received a text from this number stating "Thank you for calling Vodafone today".  As per Chris's comment above, I googled this number and got paranoid seeing the other comments on this site, but I then checked the Vodafone website and this IS one of their contact phone numbers listed on there.

recieved a text from this number saying:

"good afternoon, i have tried to contact you on this number but no reply. i have spoken to dpd and the parcel is still held at the depot and should be out for you tomorrow. apoligies"

i smelled a rat as im not waiting on a parcel, the spelling mistake in apologies, all being lower case and i have no idea who dpd are! if this is a vodafone number then something fishy is going on to say the least!! i am a vodafone customer (business contract) and will be contacting them to complain.

7 messages apparently concerning an order from Vodaphone, quoting an order number. It also quoted a postcode, but it did not fit with UK postcode format. I have not called the number given in the message, but have reported the matter to Vodaphone as a possible fraud.

I work in one of Vodafone's retail stores. This is our customer services number, and we have the capability to send texts out to our customers via our computers, using this telephone number 08700700191. This is not a scam.
