Rang and wanted to know personal details, they had my name but wanted to know my D.O.B. avoid

And that was number 4

this number called at 3 times this month always at between 11:00 and 12:00 am .no one spoke within 2 secs so i put the phone down

last 2 days around 14.00

I received a call (landline) from a young sounding female. Asking if I wanted to open a new type of account with Halifax. She asked for me by name, and also wanted me to 'confirm' my d.o.b. I then put the phone down. Did 1471 and got this number back (08701287341). So I would avoid giving out any type of details.

CALL SAME TIME EVERY DAY. NO SOUND

Registered complaint with offcom, telecommunications watchdog. Suggest everyone else does the same

Last three days twice at 2pm once at 17.30pm - annoying as running a business.

Received call today saying they were First Assist acting on behalf of Halifax and wanted me to identify myself by giving date of birth.(Year only). They said it was a special account for the over fifties, and how would I manage if I had an accident ! I said not interested and put the phone down.
I rang my local Halifax who were unaware of anyone called First Assist, but on my insistence promised to look into it and phone me back.

Have just done a search "First Assist+Halifax" and quite clearly they are connected as this came up.

I am disgusted that Halifax allows First Assist to make what amounts to nuisance and worrying calls, especially for the elderly.

We're getting them every day now. They refuse to speak to me, claim to be "from the Halifax" and won't stop. My wife does have a Halifax account, but is rarely home during the day. We don't buy *anything* from cold callers. We've just sent complaint emails to, corporate.info@firstassistinsurance.co.uk as well as completing their online form at, http://www.firstassistinsurance.co.uk/about/feedback.jsp
Next stop is to contact the Halifax customer relations number, 08457253519 and then write to them, Halifax, Customer Relations, PO Box 548, Leeds  LS1 1WU

I was telephoned this afternoon by someone who introduced himself as Sam claiming to be speaking on behalf of the Halifax and wanting to tell me about a new service. He then immediately asked me my date of birth. I told him I had no way of knowing who he was and declined to give any information. He rang off. 1471 showed his number to be 08701 287341

Get this number on my phone 2 or 3 times a day. If I'm in I don't answer it.Really annoying though.
I screen all calls now and if I don't know or expect their call they don't get answered, simple as that.
This sort of thing really shouldn't be allowed. The so called defences in place are useless.

I work for First Assist, and i can verify that we are not a scamming company, we are just doing a job, we offer (on behalf of the Halifax) insurance, TPS does not make any difference, due to the fact that at some time or another you have consented to us calling you, (whether you have missed a tick box on a form and such) We only phone customers that the halifax has given us the information from. We don't just pick up a phone book and dial random number. We also do work for other companies, due to the fact that First Assist are Insurance Administrators. We work for lots of different other companies including Halifax. Also the FSA regulate, that there is allowed to be a limit on the amount of "Silent Calls" which means, yes, if the Dialer contacts too many customers than there are Advisors in the office. there will be silent calls, but we also have a system that will state where the call is coming from.

If, as you say, you work for First Assist, would you mind posting your home phone number here so that we can call you? Plenty of people would like to have a word with you....
