They want my debit card detals????
Jan - 29 Mar 2008
They reckon they are an insurance company offering cover for o2 mobiles. Yet they don't know any of your details such as name address etc and ask you for them plus your card details too.  Whilst they may be genuine, surely if they were working with carphone warehouse and o2 as they state then they would have at least your basic info wouldn't they?  When I questioned them they sent through a text with company name, company number , advisor name and thie telephone number stated above.

One last thing has anyone ever heard of no claim discounts being offered on mobile phones?

This is not a number authorised by O2, I work for O2 and  we do not do ANY outbound insurance calls. It must be taken within first month by doing so in store or by calling customer service

I was phoned by them and stupidly did it, i was  told it was phone gaurd and i was talking to Peter Davies. I had this phone number given to me by him to ring if i needed to ring. I rang him back after giving him all my details and sai di didnt want it so he said he will get me a refund. I then had a phone call later on that day which i couldnt recieved so he left a answerphone message. He said on this message that there had been a problem with the admin department and i had been charged for this £60 insurance. He told me to give him a ring. I rang the number and got a woman who i aske for Peter Davies. She then told me he wasnt in the office until the time she gave me. I them told her to give hima message. I rang again this morning at 9.30 am and got a woman who said he wouldnt be in the office until 10. She asked for a name and contact number to give to him. I gave her my works number and my name. He never got back to me and ever since ive been trying to ring him back. Everytime i now make a call to this number it is out of order. I will be following this up until i get an answer back from them.

So is this company actually a Scam? I've paid my £70.... its a Sunday afternoon i can't get hold on them. I certainly would be extremely annoyed if they where a scam. Any chance of Address? Or website that anyone has obtained from them?

I had a personal adviser called Kim.... useless but being the "Thicker" one descided to pay for it.... Now looking back im sure that i have made the wrong descision. I rang up the other day stating what happens if i do lose my phone etc.... They replied, "Ring up to obtain a claims form"..... Thats very odd especially if they don't have a website (well, i haven't found one yet....). I need to be sure if this company is a scam as certainly i would consider in threatening them with a court hearing.....

If anyone could reply, would be rather helpful

Thanks Jason

I got a phonecall from phone guard and gave them my details, i then rung an hour later to say i didnt want the insurance as i realised i had done wrong. they sed they wud cancel it, but the monday after, £75 was taken from my account. i rung them and they tried to say i had cancelled it after they had sent the documents to me. (can't be true!) they sed if you send all the documents bk we will refund the money. i sent them bk the day i recieved them (tues) with a letter to say i wanted to cancel the insurance. 7 days later i did not hear anything from them, so i rung them and they sed it could take up to 10 days. 10 days came and i still hadnt recieved my money. i gave them another call to say i was not happy and threatened them with the FSA, they sed it wud be sent that day. 2 days later i recieved a £75 cheque. advice: do recorded delivery sending your docuemnts bk if needed, as they tried to catch me out by asking if i sent them bk normal or recorded delivery, and threaten them definaitly.

Had a call from a "Mark Williams" Extension #150 apparently.
The information they gave to me was that I had recently bought a new 02 phone. In hindsight this is the ONLY information given to me.
The questions he asked were:
What Handset?
Bought Online or in store?
Postcode/Housenumber?
I supplied this information with hesitance, wondering why they would require this information, as if the company were a partner or subsidiary of my service provider, surely they would already have this information?
And finally they asked about my cardnumber, which rang alarm bells for me. I informed them that I wasnt comfortable giving my card details over the phone.
He wasnt taken aback by this and offered me a number to call back on, which I googled, and came across this site!
Duly Reported to 02.

the same thing has happend to me this monday. i recived a call from a "ryan tomas" saying he was from Vodafone offering insurance for my new hand set which i took giving him my details for the transaction. i recived another call actually from vodafone later in the week actually offering me the real insurance. i cancelled my card as soon as i found out i may gave been scamed but the money had already been taken from my acount. i recived another call from this "ryan tomas" thursday asking me if i wanted to insure my hand set again. i said to him i wanted my money back now and i dont want the insurance. he said i had to send back the policy he had sent me with a handwritten letter cancelling the policy. ive contacted my bank and there investigating further into this for fraud.

this "ryan tomas" did give me a company registration number however hope its some use "545605"

I was called by these, they do seem to be a leigit company 5456051. They offered me cheaper insurance than i was getting. I took out the policy but as they didn't cover for loss i cancelled within the cooling off period and received my money back. don't know how they got my number? Can't say they're fraudulant as i got my money back.
