Report a phone call from 08708504278 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- GrahamCompany gave me this number as their customer service number.
Company claimed to be named 'Phone Secure' and claimed to be handling an insurance premium reduction for my phone handset, on behalf of O2 (UK).
Needed to cancel my existing insurance details, but needed my debit card details to set up new, reduced, insurance.
Contacted O2(UK) who say they have no knowledge of this company.- Caller: Phone Secure
- SheYoA guy name is Carl Rogers called from 'Phone Secure' (O2).
He offered a fantastic phone insurance price, which only costs 70 pounds during 18 mths.
He asked for the my bank details to sign up direct debit, when I offered the sort code and account number, he said the company only accept the card number.
He gave me 08708504278 as customer service number, if the line is busy that I couls call his private mobile number 07886880357. - Mr EvansJust had a phone call from a well spoken welsh sounding lady naming herself Rhian Rosser from Phone Secure. She said she understood I had recently taken a phone and insurance with O2 and offered me a fantastic upgrade. ( I hadn't insurance actually but went along with it) She said she had my details from O2. For one off fee of £70 (half price) I could take out their insurance. If I didn't claim for 12 months I would be allowed any phone off O2 network. She asked what bank I was with. I asked her why she didn't have these details. Said because of data potection act. I reminded her that I hadn't consented to her having any of my details so how did she know I had taken out insurance and a phone with O2? She then had the cheek to ask for my bank details. Be warned. This is almost certainly an organized scam and ultimately fraud.

- natalie.I gave my details to this company as they told me it was through my network provider (o2) then became conserned and o2 and phones 4 u had no acknoledgement of the organisation and I have had to cancel my account I advise you not to do this!

- NigelThe initial caller number was withheld but I was given 0870 850 4278 for their customer services. The company called itself 'Phone Secure' and offered a discount on my insurance for my phone on behalf of O2, even though I hadn't taken out insurance with O2. I initially agreed to the offer but following my online investigations into the company I decided to cancel the agreement.
The company is part of an organisation called Domway which appears to trade in many different business arenas so is not a specialist. They are pushy and bombard you with information, hardly allowing questions to be asked. It is typical of a sales company.
I'll let you make up your own minds but it just didn't feel right for me.- Caller: Rhian at 'Phone Secure'
- AnnaSame as above... the lady who called me was Hannah Berin (Bevan)
I asked specifically if they were from 02 and had the reply "We are Phone insurers of the 02 network"... They were very deceitful with the answers to all of my questions and very wordy with their answers which in hindsight was a dead giveaway. Ultimately, I was convinced it was a legit offer from 02 and accepted accordingly.
Once I sat back down again had I think about it I decided to call 02 and ask about the deal I had just signed on for. They told me that it was not related to them and they had been receiving several calls about the same 'scam'.
They are also very quick to defend themselves once you raise the fact they are not from 02... clearly they know what they are doing and are prepared for when people ring back to cancel their payment.
Insurance companies and difficult to trust no matter what... especially ones who are dishonest from the outset.
My suggestion is to stay away from these people.- Caller: 08708504278 Phone Secure
- xxWell, I received the same call from Carl Rogers today. Was not sure how they got my iphone temporary number details, but he asked me for my old number and I gave it to him (on hindsight, surely O2 should have these details!). (Noted he also told me the wrong porting duration.) However, when he started asking for my card details, I felt quite awkward to give it over the phone to someone who used his mobile phone to call! Additionally, decided to ask for his contact number, and searched it online, but the results only came up with nothing close to O2 or the phone insurance company which I believe should be NLP. When I started asking more questions, he just got pissed and hanged up the phone on me. Glad that call ended though!
- GaryI had like the others a call from a company claiming to be O2 Insurers. They called themselves Phone Guard. They were offering to update my o2 Insurance for the term of my contract for £75. They did not know what phone I had purchased and told me I had a 18 month contract when I had a 24 month one.
They then asked for my bank and they read back the first 4 digits of my card. They then asked for the reest of the card number at which point I refused. The woman who called herself Rhian gave my the number 0870 850 4278 and said a lot of customers were wary and I could phone her on this number to take up the offer which expired at 1800.
I contact O2 who have kn knowledge of this company and are handing their details to their legal dept.- Caller: Phone Guard
- margaretI received a call a few days after purchasing my iphone enquiring if I was happy with it and whether everything was working ok. The caller whose name was given as Crystal Davies when I asked who I was speaking to then proceeded to discuss my insurance with the CarPhonewareHouse and stated that as an O2 user she could offer me 18months of insurance for £105 for the whole contract period instead of the £40 per quarter I was paying with CPWH. When I stated that I would like her number and time to think about it she gave me the number - 0870 850 4278.
My son was also rung today regarding his recent iphone purchase but not being as aware as myself, he was persuaded to sign up for this 'insurance' and £115 was deducted from his account straight away probably , something which he discovered too late after speaking with me and realising he'd been taken in by someone who appeared to genuinely have all his details and whom he believed was therefore from O2.
I shall be calling 02, the CPWH and the Police as clearly someone has ready access to their customer data base/ records. With the number of iphones being purchased recently , sooner or later they have got to be caught out.
Be warned about this scam. - BaneliI just had the phone call from a company claiming to be Phone Guard.. The woman was called Rhian and claimed she could offer me £75 one of payment for my phone insurence upgrade instead of the 10 a month i am paying with phones4u... i didnt like it right from the start and never normaly answer unknown calls but for some reason i did on this occasoin!
everything sounded ok and they knew i had a 18 month contract and took it out with phones4u.. they even knew my name which has pissed me off!! as soon as she asked for my bank details i said i never give it over the phone.. she was very understandable and said to ring back on 0870 850 4278. im going to ring 02 now and phones4u to see if they know anymore as by the comments above over the past year many have had this call.. but i know its a scam as its TO good to be true XD- Caller: Phone Guard
- NatashaI had a call from a private number from "phone secure". They had scammed me last year and had the cheek to ring me back offering me a better deal because i had made "no claims". The contract they sent out to me was signed by Barry Cheeseman himself!!

- no nameI just got a phone call from the place, the girls name was CARA, she texted me her mobile number 07846251196, i said to her to call me back on friday, I had a feeling this was a bit dodgy, then straight away i got a text from Car Phone Warehouse to not give any details out as there is fraud going on with people trying to sell insurance. Then I called my mate that works at CPW in london and he told me that it is dodgy and then i just came across this website just now. I cant wait for her phone call, as I will be asking some serious questions :D and maybe one the spot ones too, oh and advise her ass that her mobile number has been forwarded onto 02 and CPW. ill see if i can get a recording of the call too :D
- HansI just got a phone call off "Nick", same stuff as before. Asked for my bank details which i said i am not going to give to a mob number that has called me. Then can the 0870 number to ring back, what a scam.
- Caller: O2
- vjust had a lady called Michelle call me as well offering me the insurance deal of my life, except she made the big mistake of telling me i just taken a big expensive insurance with carphone warehouse (which i haven't) she was so desparate to con me that she rang me twice first with a mobile line then with a landline, i am taking myself to carphone warehouse with her detail and so looking forward to the day she calls me again. the cheek can't even enjoy my new phone without some con trying to rob me. so people don't give out your details phoneguard or whoever they are
- NeilSame thing - "Michelle" called me offering me 50% discount on my insurance. Told her I was not going to give out my card number. Gave me the 0870 850 4278 number to call back on.Glad I checked here first - I look forward to her call so that I can tell her where to shove her phone insurance!!!
Thanks guys 'n gals.- Caller: Phone Guard
- RuthLady rang from 07846694387, said she had 'amazing' news and could reduce my 'quarterly' insurance payments from £180 over 18 months to £75 and I just needed to let her know whether I wanted to pay the whole £75 upfront now or half now and half in 6 months or something. I pointed out that my insurance wouldn't add up to £180 anyway and that i don't pay it quarterly, she wasn't sure what to say and I had obviously realised this was a scam so told her I did not want the 'deal' and hung up.
- LeighDefinatly a scam.

- SteveI'm not sure if I got this from the same number but "Carl Rogers" does ring a bell - no pun intended. The call was from an independant provider on "behalf" of 02 *though he confirmed not actually o2 whne I asked". He appeared to be trying to sell me an alternative phone tarrif since mine was ending. I asked him how he knew my contract was ending if he wasn't from o2. He had my name, number and knowledge that my contract was ending. I told him I had a company phone and I was going to cancel my phone once the contract had ended. After he went away it started to annoy me that he had this info without my knowledge so I contacted O2 who assured me nobody should have this info. They confirmed my account had not been accessed in several months. Someone must have told them... insider or hackers... whatever... theres something very wrong going on if potential fraudsters can get their hands on such info!
- JonathanI bought my iPhone yesterday, on O2 from Carphone Warehouse.
I got 6 calls from this company today, two from Michelle and the rest from a man who sounded to be Welsh.
I kept telling them that I was not the bill payer, but they kept calling back and asking how the phone was and am I ready to change my insurance yet.
I would prefer to spend the £210 on the insurance from CPWH than risk the £105 and bank details.- Caller: Phone Guard
