they keep calling and hanging up who are they?

I just happened to be searching google for phonejacker videos, not sure whether you have seen it before but its a tv show that phones people up and does a kind of funny phone scam.

This link goes to a site that shows you an example. The same phone number that has called you has also called them and it was someone saying they had won vouchers and a husky dog. People said that the phone call could have been from phonejacker.

It is weird. Somebody called me from 0870 8507 619 but didn't want to speak. I was thinking probably I need to report to police.

Just rings up all the time to my fax

received a call from this number on 13/11/07. was a man who asked to speak to the lady that lived here before us. said he was from the window company that fitted the windows here in 2003 ans wanted to make sure the work had been done. i explained that when we moved in some of the windows do not seal properly and he said he would get a colleauge to call me back. he asked me if the doors are still wooded framed and i told him they are UPVC double glazed. after typing his numbr into a GOOGLE search i have found reports of calls from this number ans am worried now. i think h may have trying to identify my house as the house next door has wooden frnt door. he also asked if we have any flat roofs on the house, which we have on the garage and extension. my husband said striaght away that is a dodgy call. he then went on to sell mee conservatories. he also heard my dog bark in the background and sked what kind of dog it is. this was a very weird call. i tried to phone back to get the company nam but the phone just kept on ringing.

The same happened with me. Somebody called me from 08708507619 but didn’t want to speak. When I called back no answer.

a previous call was recorded on 16:50 05/11/07 - latest at 15:40 18/11/07

it was no effort to take these calls, as there was nothing to listen to -
however this could become a nusiance and from other comments here and elsewhere it does seem that there is occasionally a sinister element ...

shall look at   www.oftel.gov.uk  to see if there is some report mechanism

oops ... of course, i meant "become a nuisance"

and i am looking at  www.ofcom.org.uk

however at  www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline  neither the /nuisance nor the /silent link seems to 'work', so i'll not bother with any "report"

Just recieved the same call didnt pick it up in time. Then tried to call it back, I recieved it at 19:56 today.

What is the purpose of this, reading above. As you would have to pay for a business number, how are they making money from this.

Received a call at 10:40 this morning. The lady on the line identified the company as Supremoglaze and asked to speak to the homeowner. When I explained that she had reached a business number she apologised politely and ended the call. I have had calls from this number before that were silent so they may be using an automated dialler. Usually I don't bother picking up when I see this number displayed but was in the mood to do battle today.

Just been called from this number, they hung up straight away.

received a call from this number on 26.11.2007 14.14 but no one there

Received a call from this number this morning, totally silent on the other end.

Looked up that web site about the free 0870 numbers, and noticed if they get enough calls they get paid, but since this equates to eing on phone constantly for 8 hrs per day for 20.8 days per month (the entire average working month) this seems an unlikely plan... unless of course they're stupid... :)

Is there any to look up who an 0870 number is registered to?

i get these calls from this number and no one is there , i also get calls from a with held number a lady asks for me by my 1st name then hangs up on the wife ?? possibly the same person always happens the next day

there are some sad and very lonely people out there , humour them ;o)
