Called my work, told them its for confirmation of employment, called back 10 minutes later, told its for a business meeting and when I queried it the phone was put down in my ear.

Same as Priscilla, they called me wanting to confirm my employment. When i queried what it was before they put the phone down.

I have now had 5 calls from this number with various reasons as to why they are calling - they also tried to confirm employment - on being asked what company they phoned from they put the phone down!!!!!

Who's number belongs to ?

We just received a similar call from said number.  Has anyone actually been scammed by these people?

also had 2 calls but when i called back the nr do not exist  - scammer if i am correct will drop future calls

I also received a call from this number on my cell phone.  The lady had my name and maiden name which I changed 18 years ago as well as my ID number.  She said that she was calling from the Dept of Labour in Pretoria, UIF.  They want to confirm if I am employed.  When I asked how they got my contact details, she handed the phone to another lady who said that they receive information from their head office.  I then asked for the head office number, they gave me the same number 087 8451800 and put down the phone.  

Has someone got some information as to who these people are?

Am being harassed by callers from this telephone number again.  Am going to try and find out whether the authorities cannot get involved.  Am convinced these are some kind on scammers. They want your contact details, confirmation of employment, by your employers, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, fax numbers, absolutely any way that they can try and get a hold of you. I'm suspicious that this relates to identity theft. Be aware out there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a call today from this number and the lady said shez calling from the department of labour, their doing a survey, then she asked whick company i work for and what the telephone number is,. Told her i just got hired, i have no idea.

I know this number because I work for this company and also trace the debtors.  It's a tracing firm that trace debtor's that does not pay their accounts, that are bad payers, make debt and then try to disappear or think they will get away without anybody ever looking for them.  If you are the one receiving these calls and it it's your ID number and employment that must be confirmed, then this is what it is about.  Settle this account with the attorney and prevent further tracing fees and the garnishee/judgement can be prevented, then the calls will stop.

Don't let this scammer convince you that you owe money.
If that was the case then state your name and agency so that we can call and find out who claims we owe them money. If you don't have the back bone then go play someplace else.

If they have all our information, how can this be illegal?  Get your credit report and check if you are blacklisted for something. I was shocked to find some place handed me over for less than R100! with all the attorneys fees it's a fortune I owe them now!

this firm is legit, they handle a attorney firm handed over cases.  i got garnishee from them for  account i had and pay it so my name be cleared at the itc.  no prob i made the debt and now i must pay.

You most likely have an overdue account that has been handed over to debt collectors. The debt collectors will contact your work number to confirm employment, before sending a tracing agent to meet you at work.

I received a call from this number, the lady that called said her name was Grace and when i asked where she was calling from she hug up.

Wanted to confirm employment address.Said there was a promotional gift on the way for me. Said it could only be sent in working hours (8 to 4).On which my employer gave her home address.

but why would they have to lie and said they are calling from department of labour?  i am still saying its a fraud thingy cause if they were honest i dont think everyone would have received this call. not everyone who has recieved this call is a bad payer.
