- ShannonI get several calls from this number each day on my mobile, as I don't know the number or the prefix I don't answer it. Today, knowing my partner is in Adelaide, the 08 prefix, I called it back from a private fixed line and just got a message saying leave a message. Now I am glad I didn't answer it. How can you get off their list?
- Yvonne replies to vikkiThis may interest everyone. I have been getting the calls too. Did a Google search and found this amongst other interesting pieces:
A Perth court has fined an adjustable bed company and its former sole director for breaches of door-to-door and fair trading laws against two elderly customers.
Ashley Francis Day, was fined a total of $700 plus costs of $825, and his Brisbane-based company, Craftmatic Australia, was fined a total of $1600 plus costs, in the Perth Magistrate’s Court.
The company and Mr Day pleaded guilty to offences involving two customers, both retirees, who each signed a contract to purchase an adjustable bed worth several thousand dollars.
Both customers received an unsolicited telephone call from Craftmatic and agreed to an in-home sales presentation about the beds.
The elderly woman agreed to buy an adjustable bed for $4700 but later cancelled the contract within the cooling off period. The elderly man agreed to buy one for more than $7000 and later tried to cancel the contract inside 10 days.
Both times, Craftmatic accepted deposits of about 10 per cent within a day of entering into a contract.
Consumer Protection brought action against the company on two fronts. Firstly, that the company breached the Door-to-Door Trading Act by accepting money during the mandatory 10-day cooling off period.
Secondly, charges were laid in relation to false or misleading representations in the respective contracts, which stated that the purchase price included a “non-refundable” delivery fee of $220.
The contract falsely said that the door-to-door customers were not entitled to a full refund, and this breached the Fair Trading Act.
Neither person received their legal entitlement to a full refund until Consumer Protection intervened.
Consumer Protection Commissioner Anne Driscoll said companies and individuals who flouted laws designed to protect consumers from this type of unscrupulous behaviour would be prosecuted.
“Consumers have certain rights in door-to-door sales situations, and must be given the opportunity to assess a contract that may have been signed under high pressure sales tactics.”
“We will continue to vigorously enforce laws that protect consumers from unfair or dishonest trading practices, especially for those in our community such as the elderly who are particularly vulnerable,” Ms Driscoll said. - rhona hibbert| 1 replythey keep ringing me and hanging up before i can answer, i have no clue who it is

- Dee replies to rhona hibbertI have started getting these calls again today - 2 rings and then hang up, twice in the last hour! I had received calls from some number months ago - and then it was "insurance line". I informed them that I wanted the calls to stop (and they did) - it seems that this number is from a company doing work for many others.
