Had a caller asking to speak to my mother. I told the caller she was not available and so the caller started telling me she was from Australian Council Bank Reclaim Department. That there were $5114 in bank fees recovered. And to claim them I needed two forms from the post office for the western union money transfer forms. I was only suspicious when she was asking for my name, my date of birth (stupidly gave her) and which bank I use - the last one clued me in. She was very pushey as to when I when go to the post office to collect these forms. Apparently they needed $150 processing fee.

Fee now 280.00 and exactly the same.

Marcus Jones called from Bank Reclaims Dept saying I had $7200.00 in bank fees owed to me. Said he is working for the Government to get back money owed to Australians who were overpaid in fees. Asked me to get two forms from Post Office (Western Union Money Receive & Money Sending Forms) and he would call me back and help me fill out the forms.  This is probably were he expects to get my bank details?? although if he knows about my excess bank fees you would think he already knows my details!!!  He said how long will it take you to get forms, I said about an hour, he said "is Post Office that far away??"  His fee for this is $318.00. He also said if I try to call him on this number I will have troulble getting him as it is a very large call centre.  I am using the hour to do this internet search and look forward to hearing from this scammer....

Same scam. Got a call saying it was from the government wanting to help us get through the recession :)

All we had to do was give them our post code, and then go to a western union and fill out some forms., and pay a refundable $150 fee to receive $5,000. The $150 was to verify my identity.

Same here, mother in-law had some one ring saying they were from the Bank Reclaims Dept saying they had $5000.00 of over charges to be refunded, and asked if she could go to the post office to fill in some forms to receive a check.  She couldn't but they said they will ring back tomorrow with more details.  I've told her, that it's a scam, and added her number to the "do not Call" government register.  Thanks to the government for giving Australian phone numbers to international Call centers and scammers.
