The person said that someone in the household had suffered an accident in the last 2 years, So when I asked Who? They simply replied someone in the household.

SCAM!!! exactly the same as dickyboy, a man with an Indian accent phoned saying someone in our household had been in an accident in the last 3 years and he wanted information about it, tried to take his details and he hung up!

Same here. Didn't want to give me any details either.

Had a phone call asking if someone in the household had an accident in the last 2 years, could not understand the caller had stong indian accent, and when I asked him to repeat the question became rude, in the end he hung up!!!

had 2 phone calls recenlty,  didn't take no for an answer first time, asking if someone had an industrial accident recently, I said no, he then asked if it was a car accident, again I said no, he then hung up before I could ask where he got my phone number from.

did 1471 and  number 091399 was quoted

same as the others but told him to p*** off and hung up.

"This is Accident Investigation Bureau, London; OK ?" from a seemingly aggressive guy of similar profile.  I said 'Carry on.'  He hung up.

Job done.

Caller display showed code as 091399; confirmed by 1471.

same here as above but he also said that they got the info from a gp list of some sort, hmm makes me wander, he also wanted details but when i had informed him the accidant never happened in the uk he was no longer interested so he bid me a good day and left...

Then asked about my accident book at work place.Would not take no for answer.Asked about wifes accident said no and he hung up.

I answered a call 20Jan10 from 091399 and was told they were calling about "government statistics" which showed that someone in my household had an accident in the last 3 years. I asked who it was and where he got my number and was told he couldn't tell me because of Data Protection. So I told him that under the Data Protection Act 1998, he was obliged to have accurate and up to date records and that his were not because no one here has had an accident. I pointed out that under the DPA he was obliged to tell me what he was going to do with any information I might give, how long he was going to store it and when would it be deleted. I said I was a Data Protection Auditor for the police and requested under the DPA that he deleted my telephone number from his records and not to call again. He was silent for several moments, apologised and hung up. He hasn't called again so far. I noticed  similar numbers 07779 and 01138 in December 09 on my call register but I was not home to answer

Have had 2 calls from this number, identical to other reviewwers. Man with a strong Indian accent asking about who has had an accident in the home. Man was very pushy and rude. I asked him where he got our number from, eventually he hung up after I gave no details. Just missed another call from this number, what is it all about?

This number rang today 23 march 2010. I have caller display so i didn't answer. Having read the previous comments it is worrying because i DID have a car accident recently, so where did this person get my number?? And how did he get access to my details?

I doubt he had your details at all.  After all, car accidents are pretty common.  If I ring enough people asking whether they have had an accident recently I am bound to find one person who has had a car accident, fallen off a ladder at work, tripped over an uneven kerbstone or something similar.  Its only a guess but my guess is that this is someone drumming up business for a "no win no fee service".

I just had a call from them and it was one of those silent calls you get when the cold calling company computer dials your number but by the time you answer there is no operative to actually speak with you.

I have recieved two calls from this number claiming they were from The Accident Prevention Bureau about claiming compensation.

091399  phoned Wednesday around 5.55pm.  Just hung up, 1471 only gave this feedback

I just had the same call!!!

how strange...I went along with it...fpr about 5 mins telling him how much pain I had after my accident- idiot! but when he asked me for my address, I said 'Surely you must have my details if you have my number? he then told me he will send me a cheque with compensation for my 'accident' LOL

he then said good bye and hang up...surely this dude must know that by his voice alone he is giving away that he is a fake!! lol

This one must still be doing the rounds.  We moved house and were called under the same circumstances today (2/4/10).  Not sure where they take it if you fall for it.

Yep, I thought I might find something on the net about this number.
Still at it, with unbelievable Official-Sounding Company Name, accent, and dodgy phone number.

Not asking for anyone by name is another give-away.

Just hope it is drumming-up business, rather than being targeted for a scam.

By the way, I'm in Suffolk; where else are they targeting?
