Indian call centre calling everyday asking for shezzy smith? Pretended I was 14 and babysitting today and the Indian man asked me for sex saying he likes sex with girls who haven't reached adulthood. Disgusting, vile man.

Indian man called said his name was Sid Watson saying my computer was going to die in 15 mins was a bit suspicious but followed his instructions and downloaded a file he was able to control my computer and de said my warranty had expired but when he tryed to prove it to me my computer lagged a bit and I was able to see him typing that it had expired he offered to fix it for a one off fee which turned out to be £105 I told him I don't have that kind of money I'm only 17 he then said he could do it do half price when I said no he offered it for free if I left my computer on whilst I was at school I asked him to get of my computer he refused so I told him to get off it and he became very aggressive and called me an idiot for turning of my computer have now used it for about 4 hours even though I was told it had 15 mins left and I day another phone call the next day but I didn't answer.

I've had this a number of times before. Some Indian/Asian guy telling me I had a virus, when i asked him for his company details and website he got a bit aggressive claiming "i had minutes" before a virus took my personal details to organised crime around the world... Only one small problem with that! I've not had an internet connection to my desktop pc for around 6 months!? That's one clever virus if it can get inside a computer not connected to the internet!!!

I get these calls every couple of months or so. It's a scam which has been running out of India for the last 10 years (at least) and varies slightly from scammer to scammer.

I just keep them on the phone now and act worried and frightened as they tell me what I need to do. I don't actually do anything other than have a cup of coffee and lead them a merry little dance.
Eventually they realise I'm taking the Mick (usually after they've tried to log into my laptop for the 5th time, even thought I haven't even turned it on!!). It drives them mental!!! That's when all the insults and swearing starts.
With me having worked in the construction and gas industries for years, it takes a lot to insult or offend me, so I just keep laughing at them and asking if 'that's the best you can do?', or 'oh, come on, my mum swears better than you, you need to do better than that'. This really really winds them up. I just keep at it until they hang up in frustration. The best thing is; I never swear or get annoyed, that seems to make it even more riling to them.

Just remember; NEVER download ANY software they ask you to use. If you do, then use a good antivirus to check your pc. It's a good idea to try Spybot and Adaware  to check for anything unusual (both are free programs, just Google them).
If you want to be 100% sure your pc is clean, get the hard drive re-written (re-install Windows etc). This can be a massive task, but it gives ultimate peace of mind.

I received a call from 092852 at 10:34 on 23/05/13. The caller had an Indian/Asian voice and asked to speak to the owner of the computer. I confirmed I was and he immediately hung up.
I'm lucky not to receive abuse other recipients have had and thank fellow users of this site for their helpful comments and advice.

Thanks for the helpful advice, Stephen.
As a novice 'silver surfer' with a slow pc I shall try the free programmes.

Had a call at 1133 on 8/6/13, my wife answered it and passed it to me when he asked for the owner of the computer.  He told me he was from Microsoft and my computer had been reporting errors to them and he was going to help me fix them. He would not identify himself. He had my name, address and telephone number but when he asked me to press Window & R (run an executable) even more alarm bells rang.  when questioned, he told me I was running Windows (isn't everyone?) but could not tell me which version or service pack.  At this point, I told him to write to me and I would contact him.  He carried on trying to get me to do things on my PC and I told him I was terminating the call and hung up! I'm lucky to have some knowledge but how many people have been conned or hacked?
